This thread has caused me just to wash inside and lubricant.

The 2010 Taco Prerunner I bought last January had a broken hinge. I bought a new fuel door from the dealer ($29.46 plus $2.00 each for the rivets). Then you have to get it painted!

The job was pretty easy: Drill the old rivets out _*CAREFULLY*_, and install the door with the new rivets. The body shop installed the rivets for me using their air riveter. Which is a good thing, because they're like 1/4 inch diameter, and tough as hell!

Thanks for your explanation. Here comes my pic. The hinge broken at the position the arrow indicates. Just thought to get the hinge part and pry open the clip (circled in the pic) so that I don't need to do the painting work. It seems that I need to order a new door to detach the hinge first.

I think the saying, "you can go broke trying to save money", applies here.

I lost the whole door about 8 years into owning my '07. A body shop buddy got parts and paint for a new one.
About a year ago the hinge failed so I attached zip ties. Eventually the rod separated from the door so I found
red duct tape to match the truck. I may try the magnet approach from above. 340k miles, Wisconsin winters.
    I can't complain.

I'll pay more attention when I pick up my 2020 tomorrow.

No issues with my hinges but my clips would open my door so I closed them up a little bit. It's been a while since I've done that but the added tension in doing so has caused the lower corner of the metal around my fuel door on my bedside itself to start cracking.

    Cheap ass trucks.
