Nope same with my 2006, its seems you have about 4-5 gallons still in the tank when the light comes on. Not all trucks are the same, there is a pretty good write up on the accuracy of the fuel gauge on here if you search.

That sounds about right. On my 07 when the light comes on there is around 3-4 gallons left and it's probably the exact same tank and sender.

The fuel pump is cooled by the fuel. You don't want to run it to empty or close to it. I always fill up at 1/4 tank.

This. Dont try and see how low you can go with the fuel gauge or else you will be needing a new fuel pump.

i always wait till the light comes on..then of course i'm too lazy or in a hurry to get somewhere so i always wait till the very last minute..usually when the needle is past the E mark before i get gas. someday it's gonna bite me in the ass and i'll run out of gas before i get to the gas station.
