Truck has about 145 k miles on it and I've had it for 2 years. When I first got the truck I tested it and filled it up before I went on a long trip and if I recall correctly at about a quarter of a tank left I should be about 375 miles or so I think when I figured it all out I was getting somewhere between 17 to 20 on the highway if I recall correctly. Just wondering what you guys get

Bilstein 5100's w/ Eibach coil overs in front (set at 3" of lift). Front diff drop kit. Extended Bilstein 5100's in the rear. Deaver 2" AAL in rear w/ axle shims. 285 x 75 r 16 Goodyear Duratracks. Wheelers steelies type B, AFE cold air intake. Sway bar delete. All Pro Apex front bumper (rattle canned Rustoleum primer + flat black). Plasti-dipped emblems. Mud flaps removed.
350 miles per tank is pretty typical. I get 18 mph on the highway when its not windy and about 15 when it is.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Totally stock v6, except for ARE topper, 18 town, 21 highway, with regular gas. About 1 -1.5 mpg better when I splurge for premiun fuel.

What are some signs that you need a tune-up? Bought the truck with a 113 k Miles in 2015 had it about 2 years and it's still driving nice and strong and everything is just going up hills I have to get into it a little more but other than that I don't see any reason to tune it up even though I've bought the stuff. Some guys have said it's at the mileage to where it should need a tune-up

I know the usual sign is poor gas mileage, or a drop in what your usual gas mileage is. For me, I've kept mine serviced probably beyond what is expected. I change the air filter once a year, and just changed the fuel filter for a 2nd time (approx 141,000 miles). Thread I posed on the fuel filter https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ur-fuel-filter-03-3-4-more-pics-added.476590/
I also run a bottle of Chevron Techron through the tank about every 3 months.
I'm just about convinced it's the nature of this engine (3.4).

I never run mine down so can't comment on how many per tank but I too get about 16-17 hwy. I run pretty hard once moving,
if I'm putting in 5th @45 mph down highways it can squeeze 20. Rare circumstances. I will say everything I did each cut 1 mpg.
    Bigger tires+lift=2mpg loss.

I have the 2.7l (04 extended cab with 145,000 miles) and only get about 270 miles out of a tank (roughly 16 mpg). I do have a small lift with 33" tires though.

I get about 15-18 depending my mood. I have 33s and live in a pretty flat city Mine is a manual so sometimes I actually get better mileage.

Does the auto get the same or different mileage?

I sometimes envy all of you that don't have hills. with lift, 32's, odds & ends in the back, odds & ends in the bed, and topper; I average 16-18 highway on a good day and usually 10-13 on my 5-6 mile drive to work. I'm lucky if I get over 200 miles a tank. but such is the nature of where I live. That's why I own a cruiser, I get 30's on my commute and 45 on the highway :)

yes mine is a 4x4 not sure you guys looked at my sig. Also is there a big difference between the 4x4 and non 4x4?

I also never run my ECT though i have just hit it a few times just to feel the difference. I didn't leave it on long enough to see lol as really with it off it has decent enough power for me, with the exception of going up some hills sometimes.

James from Oregon I am also from Oregon. Where the hell are you that is flat in this state? lol. Judging by your profile picture I am guessing somewhere either in central Oregon or somewhere back east.

4x4 vs Prerunner has a weight difference due to the driveshaft, front diff, and CVs. probably at least 100 lbs shed for the Pre.

ECT mainly is used for towing or hilly areas to hold the shift pattern (gear) longer before up-shifting, reducing the need for the trans to downshift

I tend to turn it on when I tow my bike but even then I manually shift 2-3 and only use O/D on the highway above 65 mph

New to me 2000 ext. cab V6 5-speed, 174,000 miles, just finished major maintenance with synthetic fluids and I just got 18 mpg at 70-75 mph. Some of that was over a mountain pass. Was hoping for 20 mpg but my sense is that that would require flat terrain, slower speeds, and some wishful thinking. Seems to be the nature of the beast.

my best was no load (suitcase and golf bag), stock tires, 75 mph on cruise, flat road in NC/VA. I got over 21 mpg. I went from Wytheville to Charlotte (hotel), drove to arena for soccer game, back to hotel, then up to Greenville and back towards VA. I didn't want to chance but could have made it back to Wytheville with about a half gallon. I filled up just below E and within 30 minutes passed Wytheville again

Much msg difference due to difference in weight?

You otherwise leave OD on with ECT off correct?

When my head gasket blew on one cylinder ECU leaned the mixture on other three cylinders and I was getting 24mpg and NOX went to 600 (one below the limit in CA). After fixing it, the mpg dropped to 20mpg and NOX to zero. Now it's winter and I drive very short distance in the city (I mean 3-5 milest the most) so my mpg is around 13-15. I don't really care as with so little driving I fuel up one a month anyway. That's a beauty of living in the city in Poland, everything is within walking distance.:hattip:
