So I have a 2019 Tacoma 4x4 double cab long bed I know the short cab would get sightly less mpg but is anyone else experiencing this?

    FYI this is sarcasm.

MPG depends on many things including average trip distance, %highway vs stop/go, how hilly your area is for example.

On the open road I get 25 - 27 MPG. Not as good around town. Averages out to be about 21 MPG.

You don't have 2500 miles on the truck yet. IME it does get better after a while. And that isn't too far off what I'd expect for mostly city driving. You're right at 15, I get 16ish for my normal every day driving which is a mix of rural 2 lane and medium size city traffic. No true stop and go traffic. On the road 19ish, 20 under ideal conditions.

it won’t get any better, and 285s will only make it worse. Only way to get better MPG is to drive like grandad.

Stock AF. My 68 Bronco and 2000 2.5RS get the mods.
18.2mpg all around avg here, my driving doesn't suck, it's a manual and we have 70mph highways with hills. 80-85mph commute to work, backroads home. All haul-ass highway nets like 16.5 and I really don't like how hard I have to drive the truck in those situations, it's not made for that. For those curious, it's I-26 and I-85 rush hour traffic.

Main point there was you'd take a greater hit if you had a manual transmission, even moreso if you don't know how to drive it for fuel economy.

If I go easy on backroads, I get 22-24mpg but that is going really easy and <60mph.

After a few thousand, it should get better. You do have the biggest version of the truck though, there's no denying they're bad on gas, it's a truck.

I drive mostly highway to work, 70-75 mph and my dash says I get 17-18 mpg. Stock size AT tires, full skids, sliders and truck box with about 100lbs of gear.

Alright. 65K OG 2016 taco here. I average between 15-17 totally stock with just At tires. Mixed city and highway usually 70-75. I don't baby it, I like to get moving and up to speed but man it's not great and never has been, even with 5K on the odo.

I can hit 20 on occasion with minimal wind and max speed of 55-60 with no stoplights. Got 22 once with a tailwind.

Otherwise I'd say grand total average is about 17 over 4 years. Not great but still better than my Tundra that was 14 lifetime avg at 100K.

All that said. My 2002 4 speed Camaro nets about 21 on the highway and 18 city. Weight and aero sure counts for something. It's a 5.7L.

I will say after flashing OVTune 2.0 91 Beta last week I have seen 18 and 19. Numbers that were previously very rare. And hit 18.5 on a trip that had a good bit of 75MPH highway. But it'll hold 5th and even 6th now where previously I'd be in 4th 75% of the time at that speed here in Kansas with the wind.

2018 TRD OR Auto in the Bay Area CA and I’m averaging 17.9 over the life of the truck. Have a lot of rolling hills here on 280 and lots of wind. On flat roads and road trips I’ve got around 20mpg. Most of my tanks of gas are mid 17s to mid 18s. I drive 70-75 on the highway and I’m not a stop light to stop light racer.
