Yah, I'll give... it could be WHOLE 1/2 inch... The shadow threw me. I notice the photo is taken WITHOUT a floor mat in place (the factory one)... So, add the TRD factory floor mat (which has hooks to keep it from slipping)... and no advantage. It is just simple... don't have more than one floor mat under the pedal!

I completley forgot I got mine done....... but the only reason I had it done was because they wouldn't give me my mats unless they did the modification

Just get it done, it's fine. I'm not stupid enough to stack floor mats but I didn't even notice they shortened my pedal. Only realized it was done when I looked over my bill from the service I had done at the time and saw the recall work had been done.

Besides I wouldn't want some sort of freak accident to happen and have someone trying to sue me for refusing to have a safety recall done to my truck lol. Toyota haters find any reason to bring up that Toyotas are dangerous and will kill you.

All Factory for now, LOVE it that way
if you do have them do it, take out the fllor mats, if you have the heavy duty toyota ones, they will replace them with cheap ones.
my service writer told me this when i took it in.
they wont mess with them after the work is done.

The only thing the re-flash changes is the fact that you will now have brake over-ride. The pedal is just so there is less chance of a floor mat going over the gas pedal. Since I'm not a dumbass, I opted to do the re-flash, and leave the pedal.

On a side note, you have no idea how many pedals of Toyotas I have cut. I wish I had saved all of the pieces, just for the sake of a funny picture.

I don't really give a crap about them cutting the pedal. The only thing I have any concern about it the re-flash and if I will lose some driveability off road or in the snow.

How would you lose driveability ?

No loss of driveability. The brake override algorithm won't kick in, for example, if you pressed the brakes before hitting the gas (e.g. starting from a hill). Since the re-flash includes all the previous TSBs, some users report an improvement in the transmission shift logic.

Don't even have to be loud, just show the dealer the updated recall that states it is the customer's option to request a new non chopped pedal. I had a chopped pedal in mine when I bought the truck, the updated non chopped version feels better underfoot. Also, if your truck came with rubber floor mats, request the updated rubber mats as well. Got a new set for free to replace my old ones that had a hole worn in the drivers side :)

Wonder what the tolerances are on the ruler when all the pivots are stacked up. Guess for woodworking it is not as critical. I carry my machinist's rulers instead. 6" one in my work jacket, 12" in the toolbox.

Walk up a stairway of an old Victorian home ... pretty accurate ... now, back to the pedal question ... ;).

I still have my notice, remember it saying something about replacing the mats if its the original thick ones...

I have weathertechs and the new thin mat(friend sold her truck and gave me her goodies) and my original peddle and stuff is fine.

I think an update in the shift logic would be nice, but I stopped trusting the dealership to touch my truck.
