    On mine the bolts would be the only real weak spot. The spacer doesn't flex at all and it feels very solidly mounted. The pedal assembly itself is probably much weaker than the spacer/bolts.

    Shims and adjustability is a cool idea. Not sure what the best way to do a foot contact spacer would be without it being too bulky. Might not be too difficult though.
