My speedometer on my cluster no longer works. I've been looking around for a replacement one and ran across one on eBay. My current one has just the engine temp, speed, and fuel gauge. However the one I am looking at has those three as well as a tach. It says it's from a 2001-2004 Tacoma. Is there any reason why this wouldn't work on mine? (I have a 2001, 2.7l, 5 speed)

I understand that the donor vehicle must be 4x4 and 4cyl,
    if thats what yours is.

Are you sure its the cluster, and not the speed sensor?

Well here's the problem. It won't move at all until my truck hits 56 MPH. (I know this because I've been using my GPS as a speedo) and when it moves, it jumps up to 82 mph and stays there. I can be going 70 and it will show 82. Then as I decrease my speed to anything below 45, the needle drops back down to 0....

I assume it's the cluster or something. However even if it isn't the cluster, I still want to add a tach to my dash.

I swaped an o4 cluster into my 99 just plug and play. I had the same cluster as you but wanted the tach also. Make sure u get from a 4x4 and match auto/stick also.

Is it really that easy? Does the wiring already exist for the tach? You can just plug it in and the tach will work?

What about your odometer? Won't it be incorrect after the swap?

Technically illegal to switch odometer in your driveway. Keep old odometer by opening cluster assemblies and replacing old with new. There's a write up somewhere.

this is very intriguing...I have a spare 2002 Cluster from a V6 TRD Manual and i just bought a new 1999 V6 TRD Manual and i would love to be able to put the 02' cluster in there with the white faces...I would want to do the odometer swap as stated just to keep it legit...Guess i gotta search for this odometer swap now..looks like more TW for me tonight

Wow that sucks that your 5speed did not come with a tach.

I have a good deal on a cluster but comes from a 2.7 Prerunner automatic (4x2, auto tranny), mines is a 2.7 4x4 manual. Ive read elsewhere as long as it comes from a 4 cylinder id be ok. Can you confirm? or anyone with knowledge on this.. I keep digging through old threads and can't find a solid answer..
