and what does that tell you...that there are more issues w/ STRAIGHT males in the service? it means that there are issues w/ jackasses that cant control themselves, whether it's raping a female on a FOB or jumping a guy b/c he's gay. i cant even begin to recall how many times i've heard different stories of "straight" guys teabagging or mushroom stamping passed out guys....

you can have an opinion all you want, but if you read the title, it's not in here. no DoD organization gives a shit if you have kids or are married. they will take you regardless. the age is a showstopper for some of the branches, but i know they raised it in theArmy and the Marines.

EDIT: ehh...looks like they top out at 42. if you have enough supporters behind you, i'm sure you could get the military to change it :D

Im not in the military, so I guess what I say doesnt really matter, but I have lived with 2 gay men before in college as housemates, and they were very respectful to everyone around them. They never imposed their beliefs on us, and we never gave them shit about being gay. Hell, one of my gay friends even stood up for me in a fight and decked a dude

I was kind of a homophobe before coming to college, and now i've graduated having two really good gay friends. just my .02 as a civilian

They all serve a single purpose and if homosexuals can get the job done and fight a good war then they are just as well off as their heterosexuals brothers and sisters.

the assholes that rape females on ships shouldnt be in the military b/c they dont have what it takes to be there. everyone has urges, but it's a little thing called willpower that "most" people seem to have. you keep pointing out the bad things that straight people are doing to other straight people. if you dont want a bj from a guy, dont have a wide stance when you take a dump in the airport bathroom

The fact that this discussion is even going on is alarming. You're talking about gay people as if they are not normal human beings like the rest of us. There shouldn't even be a decision to be made by congress. Gays are people and deserve the same rights as everyone else.

Being gay, by default, does not qualify you as a rapist or a sociopath, but a lot of you seem to behave like it. Just like the rest of us, some of them are peaceful, some are violent. Some are selfish, some are charitable. Some are nice, some are mean. They are people!!!

Can the armed forces really afford to be so choosy? And don't give me the bullshit of tarnishing the reputation of your "mighty" armed forces. There isn't a good reputation left to be tarnished.

That's the second time you've mentioned something about gays and bath houses. What are these gay bath houses of which you speak? I've never heard of them.

like i said, you can have an opinion, but this thread is what the TROOPS think about it...until you petition to get that age discrimination changed to where you can join up...

The funny thing is that most of us discussing the topic of gays in the armed forces (who've actually served in the military) don't have an issue (or much of one) with it... at least not as much of a meltdown as you're apparently having over it.

I don't think anyone ever claimed that the U.S. military didn't have any homophobes or bigots in it's ranks. It obviously does. But, I would dare say that more often that not, serving with gay men/ women isn't that much of an issue for the majority of those serving.

    Seriously.

For a guy who isn't serving and doesn't plan to, he sure seems to want to cast his opinion about fervently...

Besides, have you seen gay dudes? The U.S. Army could only HOPE for a fitness regimen like they go through. Sometimes I think about going gay to get some abs...

no...they have been there and will remain. if you take a look at how many actual troops in here are for it compared to those against it, then you tell me who'd win if it's brought to a vote by us.

I'm sure you've heard it before, but it bears repeating.

You should be thankful to those who served to protect your right to be a bigot and bitch in a public forum such as this... even gay vets who have fought and died for this country. They did more and gave more to protect that freedom than you apparently ever have. Bitching about your phobias in a public forum is the easy part.

I'm still curious as to how you know that this is what goes on in these bath houses you spoke about. Or is this just something you "heard?" :D

I cant belive how many people think Gay folks just cant control themselves. They are no different than anyone else, just with different sexual attractions.
