    WRT the post above: ^^^

I question statement A, part 1; and reiterate my comments on the advancement of political agendas due to the pressures posed by the current administration in reference to statement B...

    FWIW.

That may be, but my point is that dont ask dont tell worked fine. Regardless of branch of service or sexual orientation we all joined to serve. Repealing dont ask dont tell will only cause problems in unit cohesion. Im with an infantry unit and my opinion (not that it matters) is that if a Marine was to proclaim himself as a homosexual it would most definitely cause an awkward tension.

On July 26, 1948, President Harry S. Truman signed Executive Order 9981 integrating the military and mandating equality of treatment and opportunity. It also made it illegal, per military law, to make a racist remark. Desegregation of the military was not complete for several years, and all-black Army units persisted well into the Korean War. The last all-black unit wasn't disbanded until 1954.

That's unfortunately how we finally got blacks and whites to serve together..... so so what?

So some people should have to live in a shell and hide who they are because some people dont have respect for another human being that they've been working with? I'm sure that person has sat through many hetero conquest tales that they didnt want to hear and caused an awkward tension.

Bigotry has no place in the military imo. Also, does not the taxpayer pay for the military? This isnt like pakistan where you have the military being its own government and doing what it wants.

Last time I checked a gay person's bloodshed is just the same as a straight persons. This BS argument is no different than when black people were first integrated with white combatants. Trying to discredit a gay's or minorities sacrifice is a huge dishonor to them, and to all that serve along side them as well.

My comment has absolutely nothing to do with race, or color, etc. Nor do I have an issue with homosexuality.. (Assuming that is your implication in the statement above.) If that is not your implication, my apologies in advance for misunderstanding your point.

This is my opinion in reference to the decisions being made by the folks whom are elected to make legislation (as in the subject matter) which I believe are counter to the freedoms we are afforded as Americans to advance their political agenda. That's all.

Ok folks, I think I have made my point (at least as far as I see it..) ..

But really, this isn't about the individuals serving, regardless of their sexual orientation, color, race, whatever. all of us are, or have served their country and that is the most important point here. the rest of the subject matter by passing this type of legislation simply muddies the water and takes the focus off of the mission

Simply Stated: "If it aint broke, dont fix it!"

it is broken and that's the problem. keeping the feelings and other issues out of it, way too many people have been kicked out over it....

*More than 14,500 service members have been fired under the law since 1993.

Not to mention the regulation enforced integrity issues it caused. I'm amused at how many people say "we tell raunchy jokes and act out and if there is a gay person in the room we can't-so DADT is awesome!!"
