Not in anymore, but I wouldn't have had an issue with it. Why not let them serve?

I agree with you i dont think anyone should have to hide who they are, however my point is, in my unit i know for a fact an openly gay Marine would most definitely get messed with and treated differently than the rest of the grunts

Give it a bit and it'll change. Who the fuck said tomorrow everything will be different? Working in a paramilitary organization, I couldn't care what colour, sexual orientation, religion or political affiliation you are. If you can do the job properly and not piss me off in the process we'll get along just fine. If I don't like what you have to say I'll tell you politely the first time.

First it was women in the military. Now it's gays. Nothing is instant.

I doubt it. Not if he carried his saw just as good as anyone else and got rounds on target. If my whole squad was gay I wouldnt have cared because my team leaders were outstanding and the young guys were as well. The only thing that matters is how they react under fire, everything else is irrelevant.

It is what it is. They can serve beside me, but just like a straight person, they grab my **** and they will get the buttstock of my 249 to the chest. BattleYota, I like your signature. The Toyotas may be faster, but they still crumple when I hit them with my HET.

Yah. Eff them right. Perfectly fine for you to be straight and have your rights. You're whole post just screams pathetic bigotry. Are you personally going to beat up gays because you're too uncomfortable around them.
This pretty much sums it up.

goes for every branch. my supervisor and another guy in my squadron were clearly (not openly) gay and not together. no one had issues and no one cared. would i have cared about being on a deployment and having to bunk w/ them? no. it's all about mutual respect. the ones that cant get over that dont deserve the uniform.

    Well said Hodge.

I've known a few since I've been in, most of them are awesome people and always have a cheerful attitude. In Iraq we had suspicions that my Captain was gay by the way he looked at you. When the rainy season hit I remember one day getting out of our vehicle and he took 2 steps and said "Eeeew.. yucky mud!" in a lispy voice. My buddy and I wound up stumbling in on him with an army E-4 in the tent with the lights out and shirts off if ya know what I mean, talk about awkward.

Got off track with the story.. personally I don't give a shit if you're gay/straight/bi whatever. If you can be professional at work and accomplish the mission it doesn't matter.

I don't get why this is even an issue. But then again I never did totally understand American politics and the culture war down there. It's hysterics, people need to relax.
