Hey guys, I've been in contact with a couple of websites about starting a group buy for the OEM roofracks for the 2005+ Tacomas. So far I've heard back from Blake Herring (contact @ 704-972-3813, ask for Blake Herring) at toyotapartsoutlet.com. Here's the deal he is offering:

-The rack will by $203.50 + shipping.
-The box is 68"x12"x9" and weighs 19 lbs. They are located in NC so shipping to the east will be cheaper than to the west.
-The deal would be available for a week. I will get a password that will be entered on the site for the discount.
-He needs a list of names of buyers.
-Here is the link to the actual rack:http://www.toyotapartsoutlet.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=31712

I've also contacted trdparts4u.com but I have not heard back from them. I will make an update whenever I hear back from them. But as of now, $203.50 is the cheapest price on a new rack that I have been able to find.

I will start by making a list of usernames that are interested. Then, once I find out what trdparts4u.com would be willing to offer, we can decide which site we want to go with.

Copy and paste this list(not the whole post) and add your name if you are interested.

I noticed that TRDPARTS4U.COM is run by toyota of dallas.....so I googled the # and called them direct....they told me the parts people were out of the office for the day...I left the manager lady a voice mail and emailed her to get pricing info...not trying to step on your toes tooblu...just trying to be proactive in the hunt...I anticipate a call back early tomorrow.

I'm interested. Shipping out of NC? Shipping shouldn't be bad to VA.

I emailed and called TRDPARTS4U.COM yesterday....I was going to call them this morning...but got an email reply first:

    Hi Kellen
We would consider $203.50 for a minimum order of five pieces shipping to one address, with one payment. Shipping is $26.20 per unit to 93446.
    Thanks,
    Gerone Scott
    Parts and Accessories Internet Sales

Obviously thats is not going to work for us...

The rack on their website goes for $218.30...so for me...with the $26.20 shipping it comes to $244.50

TOOBLU tells me if we buy from toyotapartsoutlet.com they can sell them to us at 203.50 but the shipping to california for me will be arround $55....so that is arround $258.50

What do you guys think? Should I try to call TRDPARTS4U.COM again and try to negotiate something actually workable?...TOOBLU did you have any luck with them?

Hmm, that doesn't sound like very much fun either. I don't like it when they will only ship to one address and take one payment. I do agree though that the shipping from toyotapartsoutlet.com is a little much for the peeps on the west coast. But honestly, their "discounted" prices aren't that awesome. Maybe we should get back in contact w/ "the technician" and see what his shipping prices would be since he was offering the rack for $200.

And GEAR, I haven't heard back from them as of now. I imagine they will tell me the same story though. It might not hurt to get in contact with them and try to negotiate. I won't be able to call today though.

Ok guys heres the deal. I talked to Gerone Scott over at TRDPARTS4U.COM....super cool, straight up kind of guy. He is familliar with group buys and such. I told him it wasnt feasible to have all racks shipped to one place. I asked if he could give as a better price individually....he said sure. The price is $212.75 + shipping. He said all we have to do is go through the checkout process on the website like normal and in the comment/instruction part just type in "$212.75-Tacomaworld.com PROMO" even though it will ask for your credit card info and look like it is ringing you up for the $218....he said he has to manually enter the CC info anyway and will adjust it once you submit the info. He said if anyone is worried to call him direct. I asked if we could just call in the orders he said yes...but he would prefer doing it on the computer as he is swamped. If you do need to call him the # is: 866-233-4305.

Thanks for getting that together man! I appreciate Gerone's generosity and everything but honestly, it's like $5 off. To me, for that price it's not really worth it. I would buy if they could get it under $200. It doesn't do us any good ya know?

I just called my local toyota dealer for shits and grins: $295...they said there was no way they could compete with $238.95...so much for trying to support my local economy

    Here's a thought -

ebay has 12% cashback right now. DC OEM racks are advertised $249.99 shipped free so - 12% cashback ($30) get you your rack shipped for $220.

I've done the cashback, it works great. Last year it got 30% off a dell laptop and 25% off OEM alloy rims.

The 12% could go higher closer to back to school sales like last year.
