It's free to a good home if you or anyone else wants to do it. I can't bring myself to throw it away and I'll never use it.

more than likely its the same source that Toyota corp. gets them, they just mark them up by 5x, take a look at the faux TRD Pro grille for the 3rd GEN there isn't any difference that can be seen. I wish there was an EBAY seller that would sell the inserts for a 2nd GEN, I would feel better buying it from EBAY rather than Alibaba in case of an issue, Im certainly will never pay the $400-$500 for the OEM one.

I will not pay that much either. Too many actual.useful upgrades that can be done. Cosmetics has it's place but $400 is too steep.

I wonder if anyone would take the lead on 20 for a GB so we can all benefit. There would certainly be some markup from (the investment, shipping, headaches, etc) it would be I interesting to see what the cost would be. What is "too spendy for folks"

If someone could do it for around $160 shipped like the 3rd gen ones on ebay, I'd be all in on one

some 2nd GENer in that 3rd gen faux grille thread said he had gotten a 2nd gen trd pro grille from Alibaba (Chinese) but didn't evaluate how much the cost or the procedure on how to order from Alibaba, I was going to maybe contact the seller at the link I posted to see if I could purchase 1 unit instead of 20 and how much it costs shipping to where I live in the USA and see what they say. One thing ive learned when buying from Chinese sellers on EBAY is that first it takes a tremendously long time to arrive and tracking the package can be unlikely, and most times the product is not exactly OEM quality but can pass for it, I think those guys took a calculated risk when they bought the 3rd gen faux grille looks like some got a good product within a short time while others got a shittier version and some haven't received thiers at all, this is how it goes buying from the Chinese. But it could go fine some of the 3rd GENers got OEM Replicas that are perfect for a fraction of the cost of OEM. its a risk but could pay off big if u have patience. I would love to see an EBAY seller put up 2nd gen grilles for $140 I would jump on it quick, u havea little more security with EBAY.

The buyers’ experiences in that thread suggest that it’s luck of the draw. One could be patient and hope that the OEM insert drops in price, but that day may never come.

http://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...ml?spm=a2700.7724838.2017005.4.3cc55cc4nstAOi heres another Alibaba insert ive found not quite sure about this one at $21.80 if its legit(hard to believe), the description calls it a grille guard but shows it as a 2nd GEN pro grille on the pictures on the truck, but seems to show pictures of a3rd GEN looking grille at the same time, something seems a little off with this grille.

I did reach out on Alibaba on the first link. The price was $80 each, but you have to buy 20. It will take 2 months to produce then ship. Sounded like a minimum of 90 days. If these are knock-offs I wonder if re-selling them is even legal. (I.e. is there a copyright?)

did you ask about buying only one of them, maybe they would consider it to make a sale, the first link I posted the grille looks like a legit insert should, the other link looks very sketchy. that sucks you have to buy 20 as a minimum that means a 3rd party involvement where the prices get jacked up AKA caliraised and ebay ones that's what they are doing.Alibaba would be the only resource to a a 2nd gen insert at a reasonable cost, the OEMs are crazy expensive and they are not coming down in price at all.

I did, but because it's clear English is the second language, I took their response as no and it will be two months before they would be able to ship any.

Shoot me the link. I will go for it. I'd risk $85 on one.

http://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...ml?spm=a2700.7724838.2017005.4.3cc55cc4nstAOi I think this is the link yaapp was talking about I posted this link up because it was the only source that looks like you can buy 1 unit as opposed to 20 or bulk. At $85 plus probably $40-$50 shipping its still a way better deal than $400-$500 for the OEM version. I would contact the Chinese seller and ask them if this part will replace the OEM part # PTR54-35150 grille before hand the pictures show a legit looking grille on the Tacoma truck pics(probably taken off of GOOGLE) and then shows 2 pics of a 3rd GEN looking grille with/without letters?

awesome man, and props to u for checking all this out. I have seen on the other 3rd gen faux grille thread where a 2nd gen'er contacted one of these 2 companys(Alibaba) about a grille the response was that they were preparing to start a production of the 2nd gen grilles soon, so it seems that they may only manufacter them when an order comes in or they see a demand? will have to wait and see if any of it materializes.
