Soooo came across a deal on a wrecked reg cab tacoma. I've been wanting to build one for a while and have someone interested in the 82 so the question is... what's my rig worth?

What's the deal and how wrecked is it? What will it cost to actually make it drivable? What year?

I think you should keep the 82 because it's awesome, but if it's not what you want then you may never be happy with it.

Oh don't get me wrong, I love my truck. But tacoma's are awesome too plus it has a 3rz. It needs front sheet metal (hood, fender, grille) and a couple parts under the hood, probably $500 if I'm patient. I doubt I'll do it but I'm always open to ideas

I'd almost say go with a Tacoma.. It has the better creature comforts & the motor that we all want to swap in..

All you have to do to the Tacoma is SAS & your done.. If I could start over, I'd buy a single cab Tacoma and go from there. It'd save A LOT of headaches..

BUT, you are almost finished with your current truck which makes the decision hard.

My first truck was a 96 Tacoma. I should of kept it.
But I get more thumbs up and guys checking out the sas 86 yota.
I don't see you having the wrecked Tacoma modded up like the 82 without time and money, which means missing out on trail runs for a good while

maine truck rack, huskyliners, bhlm, marathon seat covers, camo ventvisors, k&n filter, lift and tires coming soon to a Tacoma near me

Then divide in half. Look around , you'll see built trucks for about half of what the owner put into them and that's not figuring in the time you've put in it. Trail Rigs have to be a labor of love not a $ maker

Yeah motor, nicer interior, and body style are why I want to build one. I think I'm just going to stick with what I have.

Time is something I don't mind putting in, I enjoy building things. Money however will be the deciding factor if this rig ever gets replaced.

Yeah I don't think I could get enough for me to be satisfied. Plus, I've gotten pretty attached to this little truck and it's cool to have something that not many other's have.

Why not get the taco and fix it for a dd? 1st gen toyotas are getting more rare every day. When I lived in Maine I couldn't even find a bad one to fix and when I got to Texas I still had to look a long time to find my 81. Keep it. Then you won't have any regrets.

Already have a full size dd. Don't really have the room/need for another vehicle. Like I said, I'll probably keep it. Nothing else like it around my area so it gets quite a bit of attention.

Yeah but trucks in your body style are becoming increasingly popular. High schoolers beat the shit out of them. I think you could get $5-6K

Yeah I was thinking in the same range at $5500-$6k for the right buyer. The more I think about it, I really don't know if I could let it go. And besides.. when my replacement debit card comes in I'm pretty sure I'm ordering some diy beadlocks lol. They are on sale

Don't get me wrong, I dig my 08 but I still miss my 82 even as ugly as it was. 08 has more creature comforts but the 82 is more of a truck. I say keep the 82 and get the other one too. 1 to be a project and still 1 ready for trails.
