Worked on the truck some today. Took the front driver leaf off and there were no broken leaves so as a temp fix I cut an overload from the stock rear leaf the same length as the perch and bolted it in the pack; worked great! All four corners are within 1/2", frame height is 25 1/4" - 25 3/4".

Also I have been getting some slight death wobble at low speeds so I got to looking around and my driver side shackles were scary loose. I'm talking like the nut was flush with the shackle bolt . Snugged them up really well and hit the pass side which were also loose but not as bad.

While I had everything apart, I pulled the blown shock and checked downtravel and I have been over extending the shock. Have about 1" more downtravel than the shock. Jerret had already notched the body mount but the banana shackle is still making contact so that's limiting droop too.

Lock nuts are your friend. If you need some extra leafs I have a few laying around.

Ha yeah I'm going to have to pick some up. I really can't believe how loose they were.. And thanks for the offer on the leafs! I've got the stock rear packs I took off so I should have what I need.

To continue the topic from Toyotahaulics.. what's the difference between running a 4 leaf pack vs a 5 leaf pack? Lift and a difference in uptravel and ride quality are the only things I can think of.

Ride quality and lift. You'll get a little more up travel from ride height but nothing to right home about. I'd run a 5 leaf pack with the longest close to flat but still arched leafs. Those will help ride and keep it closer to the ground. Short leafs really are more for lift than anything else and they will hurt your up travel.

May be a little hard to see but that's the pack I had built for the Runner. To me the 4 leaf pack was too soft and you'd wear those leafs out quick.

I gotcha. That's the other thing I was worried about.. I feel like with the 4 packs neg arching them a few times would ruin them. I haven't looked to see how flat/neg they are.

Since you are ditching the runner project we should just trade packs

    Ha damn, no worries.

So I put my wheels and tires on a buy/sell/trade page on facebook looking for a set of 37's or 38's and got offered a set of 39.5 tsl's with 90% tread as a straight trade (5 wheels and tires for 4 wheels and tires)

I'm really wanting to do it but I'm afraid my little toy axles will explode. I have been planning on gearing 5.29's, longfields, and chromo hub gears but I don't have that yet. Trying to figure out what to do

They will empolde on themselves. Just keep it at a max of 37s and try to make them a light weight package.

Finally finished cutting my half doors. Also cut the pins out of the hinges and went to Tractor Supply to get some quick pins but they didn't have the right size. Going to try Lowes tomorrow

Got the chain welded on some new to me junkyard mounts. I'm pissed cause I drove it and the engine settled and now the chain isn't tight and I'm afraid the motor mount will rip (eventually) before the chain tightens preventing torque twist. I'm probably going to have to cut it off the frame and re-weld it, damn it. Another day...

Ha just for kicks, seeing what I got offered and was throwing the idea of trading both trucks for a nice full size.

I actually just deleted my ad. It's not going anywhere.

Thanks man and thanks for coming out again! I loved your truck. So nice and clean, I'd love to have one like it. Red is one of my favorite colors on vehicles.
