Yeah I was wondering what the ring was for on the true receiver but that makes sense. Can I just buy a ring or would I have to make one? And do they generally slide over the tube or butt up to it? If they butt together my holes wont line up... What would be a good size metal to make one out of?

And I do plan on gusseting the receiver, just have to pick up some more metal. Would it be okay to do a 2 piece gusset? I have to leave room to get the pin in and out. I was thinking something like this \_[]_/ made out of the 1.5"x1.5" I've been using

It's definitely a headache figuring everything out but I actually do enjoy it. It's really fun/cool to me to take things and make something of my own.

You just had to cut some of the plastic on the cowl right? Did you actually have to remove the fender partly?

Yeah I had to trim the cowl which was expected but I cut the brackets with a plasma to get them to fit. And for the fender you just take out the 3 bolts on top and 1 in the door jam the lift it up and pull back some. Not taking it off just loose. Gotta be careful to get everything lined back up right though because the hood will move you've gotta get the fenders lined back up right so the gaps look right and you don't close the hood on the fender

After (I didn't take any pics of them on the truck, it was raining)

So your hood sits like it was before now? I installed mine and the hood hinge hits a small part of the bracket and causes the hood not to sit even wIth the fender.

Yup everything sits pretty good. I've got to adjust my passenger fender gap again though. The holes on the bracket are slightly slotted so loosen them up and slide them back some to clear the hinge. I'll take some pictures of mine on the truck if it's not raining when I get home

you might be able to find a ring, or just find the right size tubing to fit over your receiver and cut a 1" piece and slide it over and weld it on. If you can't do that just cut some 3/16 strips and weld them around the opening.

your plan for the lower gussets sounds fine. Also consider adding one to the top of the receiver on the backside of the bumper. This will help eliminate twisting the bumper if you use the receiver as a recovery point.

Did you mount it under the hood hinge? It's supposed to go on top

Thanks for all the tips man! I picked up some more 1.5"x1.5" to gusset the sides. Not sure what I'm going to do about the ring, I didn't really leave enough room for one.. Do you think having it recessed so far into the bumper will give it enough strength? The only thing I'll ever use it for is a recovery point

You can see how close it is here

    Thanks man.

Honestly you'll probably be ok. The top of the receiver will be pretty strong because of the bumper. If you wanted to you could still add a strip around the sides and bottom just to be sure. But depending on how you do recoveries it might be ok as is. If you use something like this.....
...a sideways recovery could deform the opening a bit. Up to you if its worth the hassle.

Yeah that what I plan on running in it. I'll do just the sides and bottom and maybe a thinner strip on top. Or actually, I'll try and find tube that slides over and notch it to fit. Might be cleaner that way

Box, you'll be happy to know I cut the welds on the reinforcement ring and was able to knock it off. If I grind down the weld on the top of the receiver tube I should be able to slide the entire ring over and have it flush. I also noticed how you have some box tube gussets that go from your frame plates to the rear section in the pic you posted. I'm def going to steal that idea! I was trying to think of a way to tie more into the tube across the rear rather than just welding either side of the plate.

On another note I picked up some 2x2 led pods to go on my brackets from CBI. They are pretty bright and have some good distance on them (spot beam). No output pics yet though. I'll post some pics of the lights tomorrow, the computer I'm on isn't working right..

I know I know. I had to get on my phone just to see the animation you posted haha.

I also cut the rest of the bedside corners and support out. I planned on leaving as much as I could but they had to go since I threw in the extra gussets in the corners. No pics of that yet either
