Nice. I don't think I would have the patience to run new wire either.

Are you going to try and use your back seats still? That's a pretty shallow box

Yeah the whole thing was designed around keeping the seats. I am going to put 2 pieces of 3/4" mdf on the top with the subs mounted to the first one. The second will sit higher than the subs so when I put the seats down they will rest on the 2nd sheet of mdf and not damage the subs. There will be about 1/2" between the magnets and the floor, close but it should work. The box wont have the airspace that these subs need but it should still sound decent. After all I'm after clarity not volume.

What kind of subs are they? I've had really good experience with Pioneer Shallow mounts that would sound great with your setup and not need a lot of air space. I like the whole idea though, of keeping the back seats… If the time is taken to do it right (which I'm sure you will!) then this will be a very sweet install! Plus I've never seen it done before with a custom box.

I also really like the idea of resting the seats on top of a second piece of wood. Just make sure you have enough support

Just out if curiosity, what does removing the sway bar do?

Yeah I've only been able to find 1 picture of what I'm trying to do. If it works out like I want it will be really sweet! I have 10" Kicker CVR's. I'm going to try what I have but if they end up not working out I will def give some shallow mounts a try. It will be plenty strong. I'm 185 lbs and have sat on it with only 1 top piece on it and it didn't bow at all. The goal is a super clean/stealth install so I still have to figure out what to do for carpeting the thing

Edit: Nobody will ever sit in the back so I don't have to worry too much about support but I would like to still be able to carry things in the back and this way I can set them on the seats instead of the subs.

With the sway bar on the front suspension acts as one since they are linked. When you take it off it lets each side compress and extend individually from the other (more flex). The sway bar helps with handling and body roll but when you add a stiffer coil like the eibachs it makes for a very harsh ride. The higher spring rate of the eibachs cut down on a lot of the body roll though. It definitely drives a little different but it's not a sports car and I don't drive it like a one.

So I bought some trd coils from a guy on here and plan to pair them up with Billy's. Would it be better if I took mine off?

I'm not really familiar with the TRD coils. It really depends on what you use it for. If you don't offroad then you would be much better off to leave it on. If you do and you don't mind the different road manners then go for it! It's only 4 bolts for the bar and 2 for the end links so if they come out easy you can always try it out and put it back on if you don't like it

Just a little update: Got my uncle to re-fiberglass my box and it's hardening now. Hopefully I'll have everything completely back together this week.

On a side note, I spent some of my mod money....

M&P 40 compact. Picked it up used with 50 rounds for $396. Couldn't turn it down being that a new one is $549

Got my uncle to re-fiberglass my box. Came out great! Flexes a little more than I would like but I'll pad under the box. Still have to put the tops on, cut out holes for the subs and for the wiring recepticles, then finish fiberglassing the open part in the rear to the lid of the box.

Just got in on the Relentess Thanksgiving Sale and placed an order for a DIY bumper!! The gf is splitting cost with me for my Christmas present. Damn I love this girl :D Slowly but surely my truck is getting there..

Also I plan on finishing the fiberglass on the speaker box on Monday and I might carpet it then too since I don't have to work.

Idk why I post in my build thread when I'm the only one that reads it...

Doing some night maintenance, getting some use out of the rock lights.

Put a new carrier bearing in. Old one was shot.. Helped my drive line rattle but didn't solve it. Sounds like it's coming from the rear end now, pinion bearing or r&p. If I have to go in there I'm regearing while everythings out.

Yeah I guess. Most of the conversation I take part in is other people's threads too haha. Did you get an email saying when your bumper was shipped? How long did it take from placing the order to receiving it? I'm really hoping mine gets here around Christmas since I have the entire week off.

Well I might be buying a house soon. Best part is, it has a man cave and a double car garage!! Could finally start collecting tools and will have my own place to work on the truck. I'm pretty excited about it!

Oh and it's about 1.5 mi from my work so definitely will be throwing some 35's on. Talking to the bank on Monday :D

Nice truck man! And yeah I got a good deal on the subs but just wanted some more space. The box is done (except for carpet) sitting in my apartment, just waiting on the weather to clear so I can pull the seats and put it in to make sure it fits and see if it sounds worth a damn. Might get it in tomorrow! Fiberglass is messy stuff for sure but once you get good with it you can make some really cool stuff. I'm a lot more comfortable working with it now so I don't think this will be my last project with glass

Well, after a week of rain I finally got a chance to throw the box in and I'll be damned.... it doesn't sound half bad! No visible wire either. There's a slight rattle under the passenger sub where the glass flexes into the floor (which I anticipated) so I'm going to throw some of the carpet I cut out under there. I'm hoping to knock out trimming the interior panels and get the thing carpeted and the seats back in the week of Christmas.

    Suggestions or opinions?
