Where did you mount the crossovers for your component speakers?

There's a small indention in the plastic speaker mount in the door and I just used some double sided tape and stuck them there. They fit perfect!

Bought some metal to build a high clearance rear since I'm off next week.

Cancelled my order with Relentless. There was an issue with shipping and it still hasn't been shipped and this week was the only chance I'd have to weld it up. Trail gear is having a 10% off sale so I'm thinking about buying the low pro bumper since it's bolt on and it was between that and the relentless anyways.

Jk.. I forgot about a local jeep fab shop who makes some badass bumpers. I emailed him a few weeks ago and he's willing to make one for a Tacoma. Best part is I can get it as pictured for ~$400!! :D

Maybe try some dynomat or similar underneath the sub box to help with the rattling? I think it would do more good than carpet or foam

Haha I know right? What hybrid did you go with or are you building your own? I may just settle for the trail gear so I don't have to wait on the other one to be fabbed

I hear ya man! Bout to hop over to your thread to check it out. If I could get my dad's mig set up right I'd do a lot more. I just can't get it running smooth. Don't know much about how to set it up anyways. Any suggestions? You weld for a living don't you?

Yeah I hate I had to cancel but it still hadn't shipped a full week after it was supposed to and this week was the only time I'd have to do it since the welder is my dad's. It's a lincoln sp130t but I'm not sure what shielding gas he has.

I think you should put it on the 2nd highest heat like D and wire around 3 to 3.5 if your useing .030 wire. Best to use is the gold color solid wire. And run 75%25% argon mix.

I can't believe the wait times. If I could mire people to donate their trucks I can start building :)

I did some welding on 1/4" flat stock yesterday had the heat all the way on E and wire speed was like 7. I tried turning the speed down but I was burning through, well not really burning through but undercutting a lot, before I could build a good puddle. Should I try turning the speed and the heat down and just move slower?

Also how critical is it to have a good tip and is the only thing the tip does is contain the stream of gas? The one we have is pretty gummed up so I was going to try to clean it up

You want it to sound like frying bacon lol. So wire tends to be turned up. It's kinda hard to say since I'm not watching you weld. The tip just feeds the wire. Make sure that the cup is clean, splatter free and that the tip does not stick out past the cup. The gas flow in side the cup around the tip. I run y gas at like 15. Check out welding tips and tricks on YouTube man you can watch the puddle

Yeah I've been watching vids but I can't find anything that's doing what mine is. I'm pretty sure I'm out of gas now but that's not my issue. When I make a pass, the puddle is really inconsistent.

How much stick out do you normally run? And how close should the ground be to the weld? Sorry for 20 questions, just trying to learn a thing or two.

Worked on the bumper a little today. Eventually will add a receiver, side protection, and a little plating on the bottom but it's about done for now.

Nice I'll go check that out! And I'll take some pictures tomorrow, may be out of gas though. I have some .030 flux core that I may switch over and see how that works
