I was referencing that the bank account would also be broken not just stuff on the rig. Reinforced bank account could be a rainy day fund special for broken stuffs :notsure:

For what it's worth, I chose FOX factory series up front and have 700lb springs swapped into them. They are plush - to quote @ChandlerDOOM - but the materials aren't ideal for areas where salt and sprays are on roads in winter. My threaded bodies rusted almost immediately. If I had known that was an issue I would have gone with ADS instead which is what my plan is when I add the secondary shock hoops.

Also, anyone on here or local to you with them that they can confirm holding up to that glorious white shit they dump on the roads?

I'm told the lesser models do better but can't confirm as all other FOX guys around me are running the same setup as I am.

Shit. I am hoping Marie has some advice on what holds up best to rust. Between Icons, Fox and ADS, ADS are the more expensive option.

If you want minimal maintenance and max durability, why not go bilsteins or OME?

Currently have OME. They're not holding up well to the weather and the salt. Plus, I want mid travel in the front.

I don’t think a threaded body coilover is going to hold up any better than OME. I had 100k on my OME setup in a third gen 4Runner with no leaks or issues. The race style coilovers will need pretty frequent rebuilds. There’s a reason all the for sale ads say they were recently rebuilt

    Pissing contest.

@G.T. recommended ADS as they stand up to the elements unlike his Fox shocks.

Then I guess with the ADS shocks, my only other concern that I mentioned would be the top hats..

Yes. I don't know that. I posted the top hat reinforcement mod that I found that uses a top plate spacer. I'm not sure if anyone has had issues with that solution or not. Ideally I would like to be able to swap to another brand's top hats or just have Icon swap it proper hats.

I've looked at a few of the top hat reinforcement mods and the best one I've found to date is from @dirt designs and is actually a pair of fix points for a cross brace and are able to accept secondary shock hoops. I'm running them and can definitely tell when I have the cross brace installed. With the Total Chaos coil bucket gussets welded in and the dirt design cross brace bracket hats I know that I've done everything within reason to keep the factory buckets from twisting and leaning when under stress. Hopefully this year I will be able to source my new ADS parts and get the hoops for the secondaries bent and welded on.

I like that design better than a simple top plate spacer; in particular, I REALLY like that it is gusseted.

Well, I ordered the Dirt Designs top hat reinforcement bracket. I figured these will be more reliable than a simple top plate spacer. :woot:

And later if you want to add a cross brace and a secondary you can.

I thought that $150 was a bit steep and he didn't know what he would charge to have that brace shipped. If anything, I might enlist the help of @NwiTACO to see what he could come up with. I rather help him out. Plus, I might get some bedside protection fabbed up by him for the rear bumper if he's up for it.

Peter texted me last night that his new bumper ships next week!! :yay:
