Finally got a free day to work on my own bumper this weekend. Still need to install the winch and lights. Then once my glass comes in I'll get to start the process all over(started this one when I was mid travel)

    That bumper looks good!!
I'm now on to building a welding cart for my new lil TIG machine and a future plasma!
TIG machine will sit level with the short tube not low where it's at by the way

I remember when I bought my first welder, the guy at the store was trying to sell me a fancy cart too and I said, "I have a welder now, I can build one!" Dude smiled and said, "I never thought of that."

    Which TIG machine is that?

It's lincolns new squarewave tig200, pretty sweet lil machine, onlyparttgat sucks about it is you can't adjust the post flow on it, it's a little long for low amperage stuff but I got a great deal on it and I'm happy with it does 110/220 has AC balance and all that for aluminum I'm stoked

I'll look in my tool box and see if I saved my notes for this bumper. This bumper sticks out a little farther than I normally like to build them (needed to be that way for the way I plan on running the lights), so I'm not sure if I held onto my notes. I usually like to keep them tighter to the body. I had my doubts this design would pan out. But if I find them I'll shoot them over your way.

Good to hear another review on that machine. Looking at learning TIG and will probably grab one late this year.

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
Lighter duty work than most of what's going on in here recently, but I spent a couple hours last weekend building a new kayak rack that bolts on top of the off road trailer. getting closer and closer to my goal of a modular trailer, where (with the assistance of an engine hoist in some cases), I can quickly and easily swap out a kayak rack for an off road enclosure with a RTT, and any other setup I come up with.

Picked up some new 12 foot fishing kayaks about a month ago, and finally decided on a rack design that fits my needs.
this rack got them up off the deck of the trailer, so there's room for gear under them, and then the paddle boards fit between the kayaks, down the center of the a-frames. curved lower supports make it nice and easy for a single person to roll a heavy kayak up onto the rack. all that's left is some quick fists for the paddles, and some sort of rod holder.

good view of where the paddle boards will sit

Removal of the rack is easy. 4 bolts and the entire thing comes off (light enough for one person to lift), so you can still use the trailer for hauling larger items. when I get around to it, the enclosure with the RTT on top will use similar mounting. making the swap-out quick, easy, and able to be performed by one person.

Always curious about what it is like to bend along a vertical axis. Guess you'd just look down the center to do multiple bends along a tube. I do like how compact it is compared to my jd2.

Yeah I know it's a little different from horizontal as to how you can measure off the ground but you can use a level with this so I think it might be faster. I'm going to start messing with it Monday and I'll let you know how it works

The problem with the vertical Bender is trying to level the bends in your tube so it doesn't dog leg. Much easier with a horzontal Bender

Plus you don't have to fight the floor or ceiling with long sticks of tubing

Thanks. Take a before and after pic of the bend loaded up so I can get a better idea how it looks. Should be fine for a hobbyist

i converted my protools to vertical and love it, just use a digital deg finder and works great. never had a issue and takes up less room then the horizontal setup i had.
