    That's what I figured... damn.

Next time I'm down at the steel shop I'll see if they have any scrap 1'' thick laying around that will fit the bill.

Shit is expensive, but is really nice having a well equipped garage at my disposal.

Can't wait to pick up a TIG and a plasma...

Yeah it's not cheap my next press brake is going to run about $5,000 and I'm building it myself. For a plasma look into the Hypertherm Power Max 45 I run one on my TorchMate and it cuts 1/2" all day with ease.

I need 220v in the garage, but being active duty and knowing that I will not live in one place for more than a few years keeps me from dropping too much coin into any one house.

Here is my little setup. Nothing special but does what I need it to do for being in a townhouse. If i need something bigger I have access to high end rigs else where.

anyone know what size drill press you need for the HF notcher. i don't need a notcher too often, but it would be convenient to have.

I have a big drill press in the harbor freight notcher and I think it is actually easier to use a handrill and go horizontally with the drill if you are able to. I just personally found this to be easier than using the drill press. Especially with the cheap bronze bushing they put in the notcher.

what kind of drill? With my dewault 1/2 drill, you have to be ready to let go if needed, that thing will spin you around if it wants to

HF 1/2" drill. I've never had one stick that bad maybe you should switch up hole saw bits. The only time it ever sticks is after I knock a few teeth of the bit

We use a JD2 notcher and a hand drill. Yes it does like to fight back and snap some arms every once in a while but you get used to it:D

this is for notching 1.25 .065 wall 4130 BTW.

I have the JD2 BEAST notcher and I have damn near snapped my wrist when it caught a tooth. I now stand back and if it catches I just jump away and let it spin I also check my hole saw every few notches to make sure I'm not missing any teeth.
