what you need an auto shade for?! cmon man! hahah. and thin gloves will bite you in the ass. esp tig gloves that are leather finger/palm & cuff. if you start heating a bit further than those gloves feel like shielding, the materal starts shrinking around your fingers and hands and burns like no other. honestly the best gloves i have found to work are the red harbor frieght mechanix gloves. melt a hole through them, they cast 2 bucks...

That's a small cylinder. :p I run 381cf and 44lb spools of wire in both my mashines. Its nice to not have to change the bottle and wire all the time.

you run the same setups i do jlee. i couldnt do the small bottles so i went with 350cuft. bottles and the biggest spools that would fit (22 pounder for me).

as far as those gloves, only downfall to them is anything overhead. make sure to invest in a good set of leather sleeves and get yourself those leather wash cloth sized cubes. a few rubber bands and your able to shield the section of your arm where the sleeve always separates from the glove and your wrist is exposed. done and done.

and to all that will say "just get a set of arc gloves and tuck the sleeves in", go do that, and report back how well it worked.

LOL, I think they're 140, maybe I'm mistaken. I run the 44lb spools too, go through wire maybe once a month and tanks every other week. I've got 2 steel mix tanks and one argon tank though so I just switch the empty with new and exchange monthly when both are empty

Not sure which HF gloves you mean but if they're the ones with the nylon backs on them, not sure I'd do that. Igniting those would suck.

I have some light weight Tillman's that I like. Never tried the Praxair driving gloves-those sound comfy and easier for some stuff.

ive used the nylon backed ones with no issue. they arnt going to erupt into flames while welding... slag has rolled off of them no issue while welding. yes i will say you get a slag bead big enough it will melt through sure, but that will happen with almost anything. for the once in a while garage fabber, they will work. for someone welding more than 20+ hours a week... your gunna need some better gear.

If they are in fact 140's upgrade to a 318 or 381 next time it's way better to run one tank for a spool of wire give or take some. And you should be able to get the gas cheaper with the bigger tanks I know I do :D

Yeah I'll have to look into the cost of upgrading tank size and costs to exchange vs cf of the tanks.
If I go bigger I'll have to make a new running gear for my welder too though since I've got 2 tanks sitting snugly on the back of it right now. Been meaning to make a better cylinder rack anyways though.

Yeah I know I'm only paying about 20 to 25 bucks more then I was for my 181cf worth it IMO. I hate changing out the tanks all the time and i have a Praxair in the same building as me :D:p

I've got a 40 cf tank for my welder and hate the damn thing. I go through tanks like crazy and here to swap it out costs me $34. That's BS cause the 125 cf is only $40 to swap out. I get reamed every time I swap a tank. uuugh. I'm also running a 44 lb spool of wire on my welder. I need to find me a tank soon. I need to swap mine out right now. :(
