General HD's installed. Now 4" rake

    39 1/2" in rear and 37 1/2" in front is the correct factory ground clearance from bottom center of fender well.

    your truck is where it belongs but if you want it to ride too low then I just don't understand that reasoning and any shocks designed to fit your truck will not be damaged by having you truck at the height it is supposed to be at.

    your truck was sitting way too low before, only because the leafs were shot and now you have no lift at all, but only returned it to oem stock ride height and you think that is a problem????????????????

    Alot of people dont realize just how much an old suspension can sag out over the years. It can be pretty substantial sometimes, and not really be noticed since its such a gradual thing and your tires still fit up in there and what not.

    So if the HD leafs lift the back so much what do you do for shocks until it settles? Im stuck in this predicament right now and have no clue what to do bc even 2" lift shocks wont fit with the truck on the ground

    These guy are full of it. I pulled the HD and bought a NEW set of factory springs and the truck is at the correct height. You CAN NOT run oem shocks with general HD springs. Brakes hose is at it's limit and the tailpipe is real close to hitting. I did the work myself and know what I'm talking about. Maybe my truck is different from everyone else.
    I didn't want my truck lower than stock, just didn't want to have to jump up to get in. I'm short.

    I have my doubts about the accuracy of these numbers you've listed. What is the source of this information.

    I agree with @1988Mercedes , the stock rear shocks would have been too short for a 39.5" (ground to bottom of flare) measurement.

    well obviously you DONT know what you are talking about because I installed general hd springs on my truck 6 months ago and installed factory oem rear shocks at the same time with no issues at all and brake lines had the proper amount of slack for full suspension travel up or down.

    well you do realize your tires are at 31"-32" high (assuming they are stock size) so 39 1/2" is only 7"-8" clearance from tire to flare? if you think that is super high and way too much for the shocks to reach you must have a low rider.

    I can only go by what I saw in my own Hands on Spring swap.

    My old ones were broken !!

    I went with the General Spring Heavy Duty springs with no real gain in the rear but bringing it back to stock height.

    I run the standard shocks Toyota Shackle kits

    I thing I must of loaded 1500 pounds within days of the spring swap so if it did sit a little higher I never really took notice.

    This is one a 2000 I can`t say for other years I also only use 235/75 /15 tires on all my Toyota`s regular Shocks might be 0 to 2" lift.

    I added the Super Springs about 3 months later I now have about 60,000 miles on the set up.

    right ...... and everyone else but you and two other guys have perfect stock ride height from their general hd springs but you guys get an enormous lift that requires a shock mod so everyone else but you is wrong lol.

    ok then, where is your source that it isn't factory ride height since my trucks has thew same stance and ride height as every other prerunner/4wd tacoma I park next to.

    im not your servant so do your own damn research and spent your own time looking it up

    im right, now you prove me wrong since your so determined your truck is the only one these springs are reported to not work on yet dozens of members here at this site use them and had no issues except for you and your "magical" special truck.

    I will be waiting to read the factory specs you can provide to back up your claims

    Maybe you got General regular springs instead of the HD. If you tell me the HD will not lift my truck over factory specs...... I say your full of crap. I put new factory springs on after the HD and saw the difference. But, I know you are right so go with it. I'm done

    Keep in mind with that shell on youve used up a portion of the payload rating of those new oem spring packs,(they're pretty weak)so it will have squatted just a tad from that already putting you back down below factory ride height from an empty truck. Also if you went with like dorman brand or something and not toyota oem they are really weak and junky out of the box. And again i dont really doubt your claim that the HD's prolly put you up a lil high at first but you have to let packs like those settle. You'll even end up with a lil settling from them little 3 leafers too, but not as much as the HD's woulda been.

    If youre still running old front suspension having fresh packs in the rear will even make it more apparent that you got alot of lift...

    Just a couple things to keep in mind...

    Just because your truck has the same stance as the other tucks you park next to means nothing. Last time I checked time and age effects everybody and everything including leafsprings, so its not a far stretch to say the same leaf springs will age and SAG similarly over time. Using these measurements to declare the factory ride hight is just not valid. Yeah your guess to the factory ride hight may be close but unless you measured your truck the day it left the lot or better yet have found actually documentation on the factory ride height your guess is just as good as anybody else's and to be stating these measurements as fact doesn't really help anybody

    Factory front and rear suspension heights, independent of tire size can be found in the FSM along with a measuring procedure. There is a spec for each model # within the given year. Functional tire radius (loaded, ground to axle center) can be factored in to determine a "wheel well height".

    New, extra cabs ran around 37". Some of us who bought new (and were a little nuts), were known to haunt dealerships with the release of each model year checking/measuring/comparing new stuff vs old.

    The rear leaf profile was always close to 0" camber, never more than 1" positive camber.
    Over time both front and rear TRD springs would sag the fastest, almost while you watched.

    Yeah, 37" sounds about right for a 6 lug extra cab with 31x10.5r15s or 265/70r16s.
