    I like the grill.

What prep was involved with spraying the chrome emblem w/ the Rustolium, and do you feel it's going to hold? I also have Inferno and the color match looks decent in the pictures, is it comparable in person? If the paint holds up on the emblem, why did you go with plastidip on the grill vs just shooting it flat/matte black paint? I ask because I used plastidip on some trim pieces on my motorcycle and hated the results, I ended up paying $40 to have them Cerakoted... which for that application was perfect and turned out great.

Funny thing is, from when I used Autocross I always ran as "01" - I eventually bought a complete magnetic General Lee kit and ran those on the sides for a long time. I still have them and once it get's nice out i'll slap them on and get a picture for you all :)

I got an "extra" grill from someone on these forums that upgraded theirs.. My thoughts were, I could take my time on that grill and then once I put it on I could then sell my stock grill to recoup my money - at least that's the plan. When I got that other grill it came with bugs and grime all over it. I took it to my bathtub and ran a hot water bath with some dawn dish soap in it and let it soak for about an hour. then I took a washcloth and the bugs and grime came right off. I then rinsed it off really well in a HOT shower and let it air dry for a couple days.

Once I was ready to start painting I made sure not to touch the surfaces with my bare hands, so I used gloves and started with 2 light coats with about 45 minutes between coats. after that I started going heavier and heavier until I had a total of 6 coats on. each time waiting about 45 minute to an hour between coats. after the final coat I let sit for 2 days before installing.

we'll see how it holds up. I too am concerned with bugs and rocks and everything else smacking it. time will tell.

the Rustoleum is Satin Paprika that I got at my local Home Depot. I saw another member of the forums post a pic of it and he did his emblem and laid it right on his hood and it looked dang near spot on. to me, it may be a shade or two different, but with the black around it breaking it up it's very hard to tell any difference at all. I've got a lot more faith in the emblem staying together and looking nice than I do the Plastidip!

I did think about other methods, but honestly didn't know what would be the best. Seemed Plastidip was the TW method, so I thought I'd give it a shot :)

Nice. There are plusses to plastidip, I'd also be concerned about scrubbing bugs off of it also. You took more care and 2 more coats than I applied to my bike trim. The trim i did also screwed into place and it tugged on the plastidip basically doomimg it from the start.

I can get the TRD Pro grill for $360 delivered and thats my end goal, so if i jacked up the stock grill I have my back up plan, just hard to justify the expense for pure cosmetics.

WOW for $360 total that's pretty hard to beat! If my plan goes right, once I see if this will hold up nicely i'll sell my stock grill to recoup the money I spent on this extra one I modified. but, totally agree with you that $360 for pure cosmetics is hard to justify. the other thing to consider, and I've done this way too many times, is just spend the money now and get it and be happy with it versus waiting 3-4 years to do it.
