Mark, I will tell you this. The first dealer I took my truck to gave it the all clear, BUT they were not licensed to do the undercoat and sent me to another dealer, who found the hole. If I were you I'd a get a second opinion.

It's my understanding that the frame is rusting from inside out, so no matter how much we clean, coat, wash it's a done deal because we can't reach all the place inside.

Fluid film has a 24" extension wand attachment that can be applied to the interior of the frame, through the frame holes to reach hidden areas and combined with attaching plugs to the front wheel wells should help extend frame life.

I bought the 6 plugs from Toyota and they were about $30. I know for a fact that dirt/salt, that is sprayed from the front tires, enter those holes and travel down the interior of the frame rail and then sprays across the undercarriage. Just to prove it, I sprayed my garden hose through the holes under the front wheel wells, then went under the truck and the water sprayed through the holes, went right down the interior frame rail, then out some drain holes, with the rest spilling out where the "c" rail starts and this water, when moving would get sprayed on the rest of that frame rail. I see no purpose for those holes under front wheel wells frame, unless they were there to lift the frame when assembling the truck, so I would block all of them. I still plan on blocking the 2 smaller holes, under each front wheel well frame too, with either silicone caulking or maybe fill them with the wax from a toilet ring.

I'm with you Mark, see no purpose for the holes. And to have the a/c discharge dripping right on top? Crazy.

The A/C is condensed water, which would cause minimal corrosion to the frame, seeing how it's operation is mostly in the summer and most of the water would evaporate with higher temperatures. Condensed water dripping out the hose would be equivalent to driving in a rain storm, where water is sprayed on the frame and wouldn't cause the corrosion that salt/dirt would.

You should get new frame of course, lower control arms, rear leaf springs 3+1overload, brake lines, main wiring harness, new spare tire carrier, and fluids: coolant, brake fluid and gear lube. Its listed as 2WALUBE gear lube, but I'm not sure what that was.

If you want any of your old parts, like an AAL be sure to tell them ahead of time.

I think it might just be me, as I would rather crack a window to using my A/C. I only really use my A/C when bring my groceries home, on a very humid 90+ day, and during the winter mostly to keep it lubricated. I would be more concerned with salt/dirt entering inside the frame, like you said the rust starts from the inside out.

Welcome!! Another one bites the rust. You aren't alone! Are you planning on taking advantage of free labor to replace parts while your truck is tore down? If so, what parts. Keep us posted.

I want to be in the club too! Took mine in today, have been putting it off for a while to maximize the rust damage over the winter. Frame failed inspection and the dealer said 6-8 weeks before they get the replacement, then 3 days to do the job.
