Been communicating with Eric at Relentless regarding my new front bumper and sliders. I am going with the Aluminum front with fogs and full grill/headlight protection. Its more moohla for the aluminum but 65lbs. compared to 110 is a lot of weight to lose off these little Tacomas. Eric assured me there would be no issues with strength/winching and having aluminum products on my last jeep I feel pretty comfortable with the strength and druability of properly designed aluminum products.

I have gone back and forth on sliders with or without the kick-out and I think I'm going no kick-out.

Any others here have an opinion either way on the kick-outs?

    Edit - Money Sent!

I HATE you. I wish I could get a front bumper from him. IMHO, looks wise, I wouldnt mind either, if someone offered me either of them I'd just flip a coin and be happy with either. But I think you made a good choice, and nothing wrong with AL-LOO-MINI-UM

Kickouts give a little more protection, but somewhere in these Western United States there is a trail with two rocks just close enough together that a slidered truck will fit through but a kick-out slidered truck won't fit.

I personally figure there are enough trails out there that I won't find that one, so I run the kickouts. Besides, the kickout looks good on the reg cab.

I liked the looks of the kickout as well and I was sold on the kickout all along but then I started really looking at it and comparing the two and the no kick out ones have grown on me! I'm sending my deposit on Friday so got a few days to mull it over. I know I wont be dissipointed in either but nice to get some opinions.

I personally prefer no kickouts on my trucks... as bjmoose said, sometimes its the difference between fitting inside a gate-keeper on a trail vs not fitting. I havent had any issues with not running the kickouts as far as protection either, so to me they're unnecessary but some guys just like the looks, and some have found them functional so its personal preference IMO.
BTW, you dont have to give me a final answer on the kickouts til I'm actually building the sliders, and with the lead time that should give you a month's time pretty easy.
