I am new to this fourm and just bought my first Tacoma. It's a 2009 Double Cab, TRD, 4X4, Full Towing package, long bed?.. Now I understand that it should not have a problem towing a two horse trailer (prob close to 2,000lbs) with two 1,000lb horses in it right? Also, I used to pull it with my 97 4Runner and I have a weight distrubiting system installed on my trailer, do I need to buy a new hitch for the truck in order for me to use that, and is it even nessicary?
Any thing else I should know before I tow?

    Thanks for all your help!

Also, anyone know how it will do on the beach? I am going to take it to OBX this weekend and can't wait!! :D

    getting there....
you'll have no problem towing the horses and trailer.....just keep the shifter in 4 and you'll be fine. as for obx.....if you have 2 wheel drive...be careful, and keep momentum up.....or you'll sink in the sand. also, dont forget to air down to around 8 or 10 psi.

Only 4X4's for me! I can't go without my four wheel drive! :D

Thank you so much for your feedback!

Yeah...air down a bit. I took my old Dakota out there @ about 18PSI with 4x4 and it was AWESOME. Have fun.

I don't know jackshit about towing that much...so I'll leave that to the folks who do.

    WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!

Yah, I worked at Vintage Tavern for a little while (a very little while) when they first opened. It's right over the James River Bridge if you are not familiar with it, but I believe that's considered to be Smithfield, if I'm not mistaken. It was quite the hike from where I live though, like 45 mins one way.
