I voted glock purely based on weight I don't own one as I have 2 xd's but at the time glocks were way more expensive now that the price gap has closed is go glock but I do luv my xd's again just based on weight as carry guns get big and heavy fast.

    Hi -

This place is very friendly and you are able to shoot just about anything .308 and below. They are AR and shotgun friendly...

    http://www.westcoastarmory.com/

Easy to find on the Eastside - very near the Factoria area - so there are places to get a bite after.

If I had to choose between a Glock and a Kimber, it would be Glock hands down, you couldnt give me a Kimber

If your choices are unlimited go with a semi custom or full custom 1911 in .45acp
Ed Brown, Les Baer, Wilson or a Dan Wesson

i carry a 26 everyday and i own a kimber TLE 2 so if anyone has a say i think i've got full rights...

get the glock, my kimber is a tempermental little B&^%$ only likes $35 wilson combat mags, and it's still not always 100% i wouldn't trust it as my CCW gun only because of the fact that i own 6 glocks that go bang everytime, out of all six and thousands and thousands of rounds i'm at ZERO malfunctions, i couldn't count on both hands how many i've had out of my kimber, it's a good gun but it's heavy as hell for CCW and the reliability thing has kind of turned me away from the 1911, i know there are ppl out there that are die hard 1911 fanboys and wont recomend anything but it but i just dont think they're all that great for what it is especially since you can almost buy 2 glocks for the price of one good 1911

edit, not to mention how nice it is to be able to throw a couple G17 17rd mags in your center console for backups

i carry a glock, i compete with a glock and would have no problem putting my life behind it clean, wet, dirty, and upside down, fact is they work and they work all the time

Honestly, 3inch 1911's don't have the best reputation for reliability.
    A Commander-size is a different story.
    I still suggest a single-stack for CC.

    stock, for now
I vote glock. Ive held kimbers, glocks and hi-points. Kimbers are nice, but at $1,000+ its not for me. Brand new glocks are almost half price, and can take a beating. Go on youtube and watch the glock videos(hickok45) specifically, you will learn alot. You can adapt a glock to fit almost like any other pistol with minor modifications.

IWB, Kydex mounted to a large leather pad, and the belt clips allow you to tuck in and conceal under a dress shirt.

I carry the original XD .45 compact, I love it because it fits my hands like a 1911 (I shoot a TRP in IPSC) and is cheap so I dont get butthurt if it gets taken as evidence if I ever have to use it. You mentioned wanting to shoot in .22 for fundamentals, have you ever considered just training in your carry load? I know its more expensive, but you should train like you fight. When shooting a full load you may experience different malfunctions and magazine issues that you need the reps in correcting so you're extremely familiar with your gun.

I generally do practice with my carry load. I have a ton of the UMC .40 rounds just stored up. Every time I find a deal on them I buy them. It would just be nice to be able to drop in a .22 kit to work out kinks (and to play with) and then switch over to my carry load to refine.

My vote goes to the Kimber it is a very well build gun with many custom features. I currently own two kimbers and are extremely happy. They are the Kimber Super Carry HD and the Kimber Gold Combat. Though I have to say I have not had much experience with a glock. Personally I am a fan of the single action 1911.

I own a high point and though its nothing fancy, i can't complain. It shoots straight and I haven't had a single problem with it but its only had about 1000 rounds through it. I originally got it just to have a handgun for home defense. An intruder won't know the difference if the round in his chest came from a $160 hi-point or a $1000 kimber. Just my .02
