does your truck bottom out with the quad loaded? the rear bumpstops will be touching the frame and leave marks. this was the evidence i used to get mine done. other wise, complain of a "harsh ride when loaded"...those are the magic words on the TSB.

It really depends on the dealer. I think the only thing I didn't try was "I'll shoot you in the face if you don't do it". Here I am at 40K and they still refuse, though it's been documented since about 20k.

click on "HERE" at the top of the page to email them and get a case #. tell them you would like them to contact the dealer directly, as you are not getting satisfaction on your own. should get things rolling for you. they used to have a thing called Toyota Cares...thats where i filed my original complaint...got a call from the manager at my dealer that afternoon. :) or you could try another dealership?

Well i went in the other day for my service and it was 515. The service manager had already clocked out but i told the service guy that the ride was rough when i had my quad loaded in the bed and i showed him the tsb. He said i'd have to set up an appointment and come back in and have them look at it. They wern't available to do it at noon, or on weekends, or after 5 which ment i'd have to take time off of work so i asked him to just have the service manager give me a ring. Today (2 days later) i get a call from LIA Toyota (Albany, NY) and the girl on the phone tells me they ordered the parts for the tsb and she'll call me when they are in! I never even had to bring the truck back or talk to the service manager!

I'm Pumped. Time to get 5100's and 285's

say exactly what the tsb says:

I have a harsh ride with weight in the bed.
If they ask weight, 500-600 pounds
example: 15 bags of 40lb mulch, truck feels harsh

I am getting mine done next week. Didnt have to do too much...just told them...told them I haul my motorcycles back from time to time...they took it to a tech who brought the TSB in, and they ordered the parts and are going to schedule me next week when they come in.

From tsb-0305-08, you can search for it

Some customers of Tacoma 4x4 or Prerunner vehicles with Access or Double cabs may experience
a harsh ride from the rear suspension while carrying heavy cargo in the bed and driving over bumps
or uneven road surfaces. Updated rear spring assemblies and front and rear shocks are available to
    improve this condition

I am in the process of having my 09 Dble cab looked at for the TSB. Can someone tell me why you would be getting the 5100's in the front? Like is this an upgraded shock and why? If i do not do this what is the issue?

Sadly when you have a 2005 with 100K miles that bottoms out unloaded over speed bumps they laugh at you when you mention it, but offer to install them for $1800! $1800? What are those things made of?

Sorry to hijack; but, I too am wondering about what is done at 1000 miles? I was waiting for 5k (in a few weeks) to get my first oil change. What do they do at 1k?
