Taking my truck to get rust proofed this morning, still debating if I should just leave the engine bay alone or just get it done as well. What do you guys think??

Is this the frame recall or rust "proofing" with CRC? I am having a frame recall inspection and plan on going back into the bay area. CRC seems like a joke to me without removing all surface rust and beyond I don't see the point. I have [IMG] advanced delamination on my frame and hope to be getting a new one.

I would never have anyone spray an oil based product all over my engine bay.
Its going to look bad, be hell to work on anything, and nothing really rusts there.

They don’t spray the entire engine bay at all just where frame is and other parts from bottom. Plus the boxed in front portion of frame is crucial.

Let them do their job if you have decided to get it rust proofed, and have decided who you want to do it, so long as they have a solid rep and have been in the business for an extended period of time. Salt water reaches everything. Not sure why you would omit parts of teh process.

They did an amazing job! Made me nervous when I could hear them drilling into my panels. They washed the undercarriage prior to spraying with oil. Everything looks new again, fee so much better my truck is protected now. Plan on keeping this truck for a long time, hoping to give it to my son.

Undercarriage doesn’t look bad considering it’s been through 4 winters with no protection. I did meticulously wash the undercarriage during the last few winters since I’ve owned it.

Looks good. I do it every year. Before i take it in, i use a product called Corroseal which i 'paint on' to the rusted spots and it converts them to a shiny black. Some spots i will repeated a few days later. No sanding, just clean heh frame and wipe the rusted spots, seams, areas with a rag or whatever. Mine looks like that, or a little better, after 10 salty Western New York winters.

Here's what mine looks like 4 years after CRC.IMG_2631.jpgIMG_2633.jpgGoing in for my last inspection tomorrow. 2007 TRD and I'm the original owner. I NEVER got the frame recall letter. Had new leaf springs on recall in 2016 and no mention of excess rust on the frame. I found out about the recall from a friends son.

Looks good. Sounds like you went to Krown?
Where did you go? I might be looking to try a new place as I wasn't happy with the job down this year by another company.
I had to take my truck back and have them redo it, they didn't spray inside my frame.

They took pneumatic needle scalers and hit all the surface rust off mine before applying the CRC. That's the standard procedure for the recall. Well, at least in my area. They also masked everything pretty well.

You better hope that is their procedure and it should be. I had CRC applied in 2014 on my 07 and now my truck is at the dealer waiting for the new frame.. Without proper rust removal you are just creating a Petri dish for future problems.
