I may be picking up a truck this weekend and wanted to know if it is a good deal. According to KBB it is right near the private party value. It is a 2000 Tacoma v6 4x4 auto xtra cab. Silver with cloth interior. 105k miles. Never been offroad (older couple). Clear carfax. Bigger AT tires, spray in bed liner(rhino), and aftermarket steps. very clean inside/out according to owners. They are the 2nd owners. The want 9500 but may be willing to take a couple hundred off...What you guys think???

Sounds a little expensive, how does it drive ? Have you had it checked out by a mechanic ? carfax ?

KBB value for private party is 9,000 in good condition. I havent looked at it yet because its about 150 miles away. They claim its always went to dealer for service and the carfax is clean.

Well it's a buyers market, go drive it and if you like it, start low and work your way to a happy medium. I was thinking around $8200-8500, it does look really clean and well maintained from the pictures, it's the miles that has me hedging on that price.

If that thing checks out and is clean, I would jump on it. Private Party value is a value that was inserted by car dealerships. Why would their value be more? They are just paying their overhead and sales team. It doesn't make sense. Why should the price change based on who is selling the vehicle?

You didn't mention if that was a TRD or SR5, so I am assuming it is not. Even without that, the truck is worth over $10K. With that package and all the other stuff surely on the truck, the value goes to around $11400.

I paid 17k for my 03 4x4 with 60k miles on it so it sounds like a fairly good deal to me.

Sounds good to me...ask if they had the timing belt/thermostat/waterpump done around 90K.
