7/32nds. I'm pretty sure it's less to do with remaining tread depth and more to do with wearing down to the harder rubber layers.

Without the slightest bit of hesitation I can tell you the Wrangler Authority walks all over the KO in every way, shape, and form except for road noise.

Awesome, my truck has more noises than my AT's, I wouldn't mind a little tire noise.

They look decent, better siping left than my KO's.

I'll have to agree......they are great tires! Been running BFG AT's all my life and switched to the Authority tires today.

A buddy of mine put a set on his wife's 4x4 Jeep Liberty. He just took them off at 95k miles and they passed MO vehicle inspection the week before. Hoping to get atleast half of that from mine. Bought my truck last halloween and it has 32k miles and is getting 21.365 mpg.

Leaving Sunday night for work and return in a couple of weeks. That should be about 2200-2500 miles and let ya know. Gotta figure out what air pressure to run.

Watched the guys at Walmart install the tires the entire time and they did a really good job. Lucked out I guess.

I got lucky and the "kids" took lunch leaving an older gentleman by himself to mount mine. He was so careful and cautious of my wheels that I tipped him $20. I wish they were all that way.

I think I read the whole thread. Anyone know the tire weight at 265/70/17. And the hit on gas mileage? Thanks edit: in load C

    I saw a 1.5 - 2 mpg drop. Can't remember the tire weight.

Just if you want to add the info. I brought a scale to Walmart today lol. I'm sure it looked stupid. But they couldn't tell me the weight either over the phone. So the only time I had to borrow there "tech" was for one tire weight. So I did mine 265/70/17 load C. 44 lbs. So it's about the same as the duratrac, and a couple pounds lighter than the bf at/ ko2

This thread won me over and I just put on Wrangler Authority tires on my 2000 Tacoma. I had BF Goodrich A/T KO tires on it that I had for over 4 years. They were good but sucked on wet roads. So far I am really liking the Authorities.

I've been beating the piss out of mine lately. I have no complaints and they seem to be handling abuse pretty well. I doubt I'll set any mileage records at the rate I'm going, but they still look brand new.

Just got back from Carlsbad and after 2,200 miles in the last 2 weeks. 920 of that put on from Monday evening until 4:30 this morning. I have had a best of 19.3 at 75 mph.. This is usually the area of my trip I normally get 21.365 mpg.

To a worst that was soooo bad that I didn't figure it up. This was with a 40 mph headwind. The worst mileage I did figure was 16.3.

I can feel the weight of the tires when driving down the road and especially in the turns. I have an access cab and figured the truck would have a little less weight that the crew cab. However since I carry everything except for the kitchen sink in my truck when going to work. The air pressure was set at 34 psi front and 32 psi rear. May up the front to 35 psi and try it on Sunday night.

Grip-Dry. They do grip well in the corners however due to the tread depth they do roll. This was in west Texas on Hwy 82 between Benjamin TX and Lubbock TX. Never turning the cruise off even in the turns. Just have to be up on the wheel a little more than the factory crap. I mean Dunlops. Have taken some of the turns at up to 105 mph with the Dunlops and the truck handled very well. Won't be doing that with the Goodyears with the increased tread depth. Tires had no heat build up after 280 miles of constant driving at 75 mph.

Grip-Wet. Ran into a little mist that turned in to light rain. Tires felt like they had good grip. Even trying to get the tires to spin.

Tire Roll over. Was not bad at all. However you can really feel the depth of the tread.

Increased tire size: 265/65/17 and now 265/70/17.

It does seen to make my speedo correct now. The tranny does down shift more now than before on hills. On some hills it had never down shifted before.

Torque: It does seen to have a little bit more torque than before. Which is nice since I do a lot of highway driving.

Noise: Above 60 mph the noise starts to increase and is the loudest from 65-67 mph. However they are not bad at 75 mph.

Can't wait to get them out in the mud while on a hunting trip. Or in the snow. I didn't have time to get them in the mud in New Mexico. Spent too much time driving my work truck thru over 4 feet of water.
I did receive a ton of hail damage on it last Wednesday night. My dent free truck now looks like a couple of monkeys with ball pin hammers in each hand went nuts on my truck. Hope to have that fixed in the next couple of days.

I figure that over my trip I have to add about an extra 10-12 gallons of gas to my truck just to get to work. So is it worth it......Yes. Love the tires and they get me to work. Pay for a little extra gas and they get me to work. Where I get two weeks pay. Don't get to work and I don't get paid. Rolled it over 34k miles this morning. Still runs great!

On the factory Dunlop tires they had 32k miles on them when replaced. Still had approx. 1/2 tread. I do strongley feel that bringing the tires up to temp. "heat treating" and then letting them cool really helps the tread wear. Tire Rack offered this service on the Hoosier Road Race tires I bought. Didn't go for this. Just put them on and "Scuffed them in" bring them up to temp and let the car set for atleast 48 hours to cool.
Before removing the Dunlops, like all I did turn off the traction control and show my 16 year old how to do a smokey burnout. Last winter I gave him drifting .....I mean driving lessons on the dirt track in my buddy's field. The truck does drift very well with the 4wd turned off and LSD turned on. Can't wait till the snow falls.

Sorry if I rambled, just my thoughts. Great tires so far.

Great write up. Great tire. I had three sets of Goodyear Silent Armor tires on my previous truck. They are similar wear/tread design and I really liked them. I will look at these next time around.

Box stock suspension? I'm looking at doing this very thing on my 2013. I'm still on the fence between 2 tires though...These and the Hankook Dynapro AT M. I'm a daily driver, occasionally off road, have to get to work on most snow days. I have liked the look of the Authorities every time I am in the auto section.

This has been a great post! Thanks!
