    Fightnfire,

I currently have the same tires Hankook Dynapro in 265/75/16. I was calling around to get the same thing and apparently they are discontinued tires and only few shops around still have them. I currently have the LT265/75/16 with a E loading rate. I didn't know they came in P265/75/16 with SL loading rate. The guys at the shop told me they're about $100 difference. Are you running the LT? they said the P is fine if I'm not pulling anything which 99.9% of the time I am not. If you have the P rating have you pulled anything?

P or SL is fine for our trucks. I am not pulling anything but I regularly run with lots of weight in the bed. I put 2 adults and 2 kids in our truck plus all of our camping gear. Tent, cots, gear, huge cooler stuffed with water/beer, Firewood. To our normal spot we are running 60+ miles of rough gravel road and I've never had an issue. I also do tons of weekend trips to forest roads and snow etc. The P's are fine.

I put over 65k miles on my P rated Hankooks and could have gotten more. I only went C on the Duratrac's because I don't drive the freeway commute anymore and wanted to try them out.

Thanks for the quick response. I figured P would be find. I do the same thing actually. I do a lot of camping in back roads with 4 people + ton of rock climbing gear/camping gear + food and water, which add a lot of weight. I'll go with the P and same myself some money.

After reading about the duratracs popping 4 times, your not making me want to get those.. I go on FS/gravel roads a ton and if they are going to pop with sharp rocks then I don't want that. Good thread though OP

Don't let my comments scare you. I can't help but feel I've somewhat put a negative spin on the Duratrac. I feel they are a good tire and pretty tough. And no tire is immune to tire punctures, wrong place at the wrong time and damage will occur, simple as that.

To add more to what I said about last week, I was in Death Valley and I beat the crap out of them in the rocks! It was punishing! I'm amazed more damage did not occur. I was driving like I was in the the baja 1000. Haha. :D

Just look at the damage to my rock sliders

My next tire may be a D or E rated LT tire not sure which one though. Maybe the Cooper ST Maxx or maybe a heavier Duratrac D, or E rated. Dunno yet. I've got one of those thread depth measurement tools on order. The tire shop I went to [Discount Tire] will not repair tires that have been plugged by customers. They changed their policy for the worse. I may buy some plug-n-patch kits, or I may just keep the plugs in. Who knows!

That does make sense. I've always had E rated tires and haven't had to worry very much, and I won't go with anything lower than E rated. For my next tires I'm trying to decide between a 285 duratrac (e rated) or the goodyear mtr's

I don't think I would worry about it. I've got 4 plugs in my Hankooks but those are all from nails and screws. I work at a lumber yard and customers are always dropping loose fasteners out of the backs of their trucks.

Great pic! How many miles do you have on your Duratracs?

Have you ever had experience with any other tire? I ran Bridgestone Dueler APT 3s and absolutely loved them back in the day on my S10 blazer. Didn't see too much offroad but it was great in the snow and on the road. I've been wanting to get something similar again after these rugged fails die on me.

I only have about 2k on the set on my tacoma. I only use the tacoma for camping trips, other than that it just sits in the garage. But i also have the same exact tires on my dd 4runner and i tow atv's up into the Pa. mountains with it loaded with about 3 adults and gear with no issues. I have roughly 12k miles on the 4runner's duratracs and i'm happy with them.

I've never run Bridgestone but their Dueller Revo gets good mark for an AT. I have run tons of other AT and MTs. I grew up a Lew Schwab kid so I ran a lot of their Wild Country branded tires, mostly made by Cooper I believe. I've also ran Toyo AT's/MT's, Yokohama Geolanders, Falken Wild Country's.

I've never run BFG AT's but just about all of my buddies have or currently do. One of them is a 2010 Tacoma, so it's a good comparison of capability.

Yes I know but Ive read sbout so many people that have popped them. I'm not sure still :/

I think for me I'll be fine with duratracs because I'm going to run 285's which are E rated.

I put 20k on my C range duratracs. They're no longer with me and were at a conservative 1/2 tread. They were on a 94 ranger 4.0l with a powertrax in the rear.

Also, I should admit that I did somehow manage to tear off about half a inner tread block on a front tire. I'm positive that was in 4L in a bit of a rocky swamp ragging on the throttle. It never leaked air even after a year of sitting. I also took a small nail into a tread block that wasn't long enough to pierce into actual tire, just tread. No issues from that- pair of pliers fixed it. I'd consider them tough. I put a lot of research into them at the time of purchase (mid 2012). FWIW they did balance well on stock 15x8 Ford "deer hoof" rims.

Love this thread; I really appreciate the longer reviews with more depth. I just got a 2015 TRD and am looking at the Hankooks and Duratracs. I'm near Phoenix, so I go on forest roads frequently, and get some moderate sized rocks and steep inclines.... I'm leaning towards the Duratracs at this point, but thanks to this thread, I know there will be a tradeoff :)

    thanks!

I see you've updated your snow ratings for the duratracs with 9s for both snow categories. Living in MI I really have an interest in snow performance and that's probably going to be one of the bigger reasons for me to purchase a tire.
