I just drove to work in the snow this morning. So far, these tires are great in the snow, no complaints.

:D I found that mine got noisier as they wore.Still not a deal breaker but definitely noticable.

I do not have, or need hearing aids. :D
My 265/75-16 Duratracs are not noisy. There is a faint hum from them when driving at highway speeds, but its barely noticeable.
They aren't even close to being as noisy as Super Swampers. I know, because I have 33x12.5-15 Super Swamper Radials on my Jeep.

The hearing aid thing was a joke.
I do think the perception of noise differs IF the individual tires do not differ as I too have had super swampers and to me these duratracs are 1/2 of the noise level of them.
Are yours load range E or C? Mine are E; perhaps that is the difference? I think the ones I have are quite noisy.

I have load range "C" Duratracs on our FJ. They are not so noisy around town but they do create a "Whirling" noise at 60 mph plus on the highway. I can live with that. I am not sure load range selection will make them any less noisier as the lugs and tread design are the same. The "E" load will be much stiffer than the "C" load thus creating a harsher ride. Overall, I am pleased thus far with the ride quality of our "C" load LT265/70/17 Duratracs.

I actually have no problem with the ride quality. To me they are tons better than the factory tires. I would have gotten C's but dealer didn't have them and only wanted to swap tires if mine were new with no mileage - so I did. Agree with your noise description. At 70 they are noisy above normal radio levels (interferes with music listening). But they sure did good in the snow.

I know the hearing aid comment was a joke. Thats why I put the :D in my sentence.
Anyhow, I have the load range "C" tires. They are inflated to 40 p.s.i., and have a very even contact patch according to the chalk test.

Mine don't seem that loud yet, but I've yet to have them over about 45mph yet either. This is what happens when you get them installed the day before you leave for vacation. I'll know tomorrow on the way to work, I'll post up what I think then.

I haven't had time to do the chalk test on mine either BTW, so thanks for the 40 psi info. I've got an access cab as well, and the "C" load range tires, and the guys at the shop put 32 psi in them. They said that's what they had to put in there to keep the TPMS sensors happy. Good thing we know how to reset them.

Ok, finally hit the highway on the way to work this morning, and they started humming around 60 or so. I got up to 70. It's not bad, but more that I like or was expecting after everyone saying how quiet they were.

Of course, this is all subjective since I haven't been in the truck for almost two weeks, and I'm coming from the stock Dunflop street tires.

Either way, still happy with them. They look good and I know I can get to the mountains with no worries.

even though the dura trac isn't a very loud tire these are aggressive tread tires if noise is a concern drive a carolla and let your wife drive your truck. that aside these tires rock!!! i was in 18" of fresh snow the other night with snow drifting over my hood. in 2 wheel drive throwing shitties all over the place i had no problems with traction. the tires are very predictable in the snow and deep snow. on ice of course a snow and ice tire will be better because of greater cutting edges, but these will hold their own. in the mud these things are fun the outside lugs stay very clean and bite well. on dirt roads they take a little extra throttle to break loose but oh well. love that right pedal anyway. grip on dry and wet pavement but who cares. i have put about 3000 miles on them and they are wearing great. i will replace these tires with another set when these are done. i have run the old style mt/r on the same truck and loved those tires as well but i like the versatility of the dura trac more. last of all they look sweet i always get compliments. i would highly recommend these tires.

About 5000 miles so far....holding up well with little tread wear...a little uneven, but that is to be expected from a tire with big lugs. I've been very happy with my purchase.

I've got almost 15,000 miles on mine now. They are wearing great. Edges looked to be wearing a tad quick on the first 3,000 miles but got my alignment redone and they've looked good since then. Majority of my miles are around town.
