thanks guys, you're pretty much echo'ing my thoughts, hard to believe that a tire that's the "same" width and 13mm bigger around won't fit, right? But like was said, maybe the sidewall baloons a bit more. I didn't get to see it myself since I just dropped the truck off and they had the original back on by the time I got there.

maybe I'll start a new thread to see if I can find anybody that's got em on a stock truck. That or I'll have to drop to the 265/65/17 and go with the BFG instead.

Taller isn't much different than wider past a certain point operating in a confined space such as a wheel well. Either way it will start hittin stuff. This is where lift will help the taller and offset of the rim or spacers will help the wider.

I've ran these tires since the first the day they came out in Northern Ontario, (Canada) i have over 60,000kms on them now and they still have plenty of tread yet.
They don't come with a tread wear warranty as they are a M/S tire but i would expect to get at least 80-95K out of them no problem.
They can be studded for winter or just run them as they are (excellent traction).
These put the 15 year old tread pattern BFG's to shame.

I've had these tires on for about 3 months now, and just finished a 1000 mile round trip from Reno to San Diego. These bad boys performed great in all aspects. I saw tought snow, a boat load of rain in SoCal, and dry pavement in between. For such an aggressive tread, noise is at minimum. Also got quite a few complements about how great they look. I would highly recommend these to anyone.

rebalance them every oil change. There aggressive tread requires rebalancing due to the differential wearing of them or something. Goodyear rep told me this.

I have had them for a few months now.

The wandering seems to stop as they wear more as well as the noise. It is not near as bad.

I finally broke down and bought a set of Duratracs as the BFG Rugged Trails were scary in the snow. So it was really more of a necessity. I slid through 3 intersections during our first snowfall in 4WD. The Duratracs solved that problem and I no longer need 4WD on the street. I had to go back to Goodyear to be rebalanced a week later as I found they would vibrate, starting at 40 mph. I then tried them off road in 20" of snow and could not get over how well they performed. It was a toss up between these and the Wrangler Silent Armors, which I previously had on my 2007 Tundra. I chose the Duratracs as they look better on the truck and will be better in mud than the Silent Armors. I only have a little more than 400 miles on them, but I am hoping I will get decent tread wear out of them.

:proposetoast: i might have to get them too.. ha.. but.. i got another question.. why do people have different treadwear.. some people complain they dont get enough miles out of them.. obviously its how you take care of your tires and what you drive on (snow. rocks. street. ets.).. what would be the life line of these if i get them in socal?

climate (i'm guessing) if you made a list of the people with short tread life and a list of longer tread life and compared their hometowns you would probably see that those of us further north are seeing longer life out of these tires. they are all season which usually translates to softer rubber...which will wear faster on hot road surfaces.

Goodyear wrangler MTRs are a good alternative. awesome on rocks and in sand and better tread wear than duratracs.

Not just soft from being an A/T but also soft to pass severe snow rating which means they are even softer! So i 100% agree location is key. I plan on getting Cooper STT or Wrangler MTRs for summer tires

The only downside is that i get crazy vibes. And there seems to be a weird wear on the outter tread on the fronts.

I've had the duratracs for a year and a half and 20,000 miles and expect to get another 30,000 of life. I am still pleased with my purchase although I do have one tire that is "double egg shape" but a good road force balance every 10,000 cures it. These really are a do it all tire, not too loud for such an aggressive tire, fairly lightweight considering, decent wear, good in the mud, GREAT in the snow and up until recently, priced right. When these wear out I will for sure be replacing them with the same.

i have the same wear on the outer treads. Rotate often and it will minimize it. do you have a lift and if so do you have UCAs im wondering if UCAs will fix my camber to even out tread wear. I also drive up and down to big bear regularly so going around all those turns sure doesnt help

I noticed that people who have outer wear

also have the front lifted, like with the billys

Im thinking that is want causing this since the tire

doesnt sit perfectly flat as when stock.

I have mine set at .85, and with about 15000 miles on them

i can see a slight outside wear.

so i belive its from the lift, or im just taking corners too fast.

right, and with the added lift the stock ucas dont allow for a 100% perfect alignment is my guess. I may get UCAs soon to see if it makes a difference
