The rubber is soft - that's where the grip comes from.

Who has had sidewall issues? I only know of a few people and they were rock crawling which can tear up any tire's sidewall.

I just noticed the other day that I have a bubble on one of my tires. Only have about 7000 miles, but I have had it for 1.5 years so the warranty is expired..

Take it to a pro and see what they say. If they say it's bad and not considered defective/warranted I would write Goodyear a letter stating your story and asking for help. Butter the letter up good (life long goodyear customer etc) and be very nice. Ive found you can get very good service by writing a letter vs calling or e-mailing.

I remember mine being rippled from day 1.

    lol

I'm more concerned about the 2% who are offroad 5% of the time.

Street trucks shouldn't get AT's IMO. My car or SUV never saw AT tires.

Yeah I took it to a local tire place today, I didn't notice but closer to the tread and 2" back there is a very small chunk of tire missing. Nothing bad, but you can tell that the tire was used off road and I obviously ran over something.

Thanks for the input! I will write a letter and we will see where it goes.. I'm thinking nothing will but you never know.

I've had BFG AT's in a 33 on my truck since it was almost new. Can't really complain about them except I wish for a bit better mud traction. 42, 130 miles still look fine.

Now I have gone to a Wrangler Duratrac in 265/70/16, used with 15k miles. Adjusted my SGII. Obviously speedo is closer to correct than before. Acceleration is better, not that I can feel it but I speed now compared to before, those places that you travel alot you can normally put the throttle in the correct position but now I'm a bit over the limit. I attribute this to the the lighter and smaller tire. There is a hum, not bothersome but noticeable. As a matter of fact its as loud as my BFG's with 42k miles.

I'll be playing with PSI tomorrow, today I set them to just shy of their max 48/46. Seems to be too much based on visual inspection but I want to give them a shot. Just black top so far and they feel fine and solid, haven't even left town yet so no highway speeds even.

I picked up a set of slightly used 265 Duratracs today. They are E rated, but I am looking forward to putting them on tomorrow

Really the load range designation is for towing and hauling performance. If you upgrade your rear leaf springs to increase your load capacity and plan on hauling or towing stuff regularly, it would make sense to upgrade to E's IMO.

In terms of ride comfort, I really doubt there is much noticable difference between C's and E's. If you keep your truck on stock suspension, you may notice a slightly stiffer ride but if you upgrade your suspension / add a lift you will notice a LOT more difference in ride from the change in suspension than you will from the tires.

I have done some reading around and some folks presume that E range tires have worse mpgs than C's, because they are heavier. I find that line of reasoning suspect, as I would think that a bigger factor would be that C's sidewalls deform a lot more during accelerations than E's, which would decrease efficient transfer of power from the powertrain to the pavement. I had 265 Load E duratracs and noticed zero change in mpg's compared to my stock BFG Rugged Trails.

So, I ended up buying a set of these in 265/70-17 yesterday. I was going to have them mounted black sidewall out, but now I'm rethinking that. The reason I was going to go blackwall out was I previously had Silent Armours on a 4Runner white lettering out, and shortly after sold the truck to my friend. I noticed that after him using it off road that the sidewall was actually all white, with a thin layer of black over it except where the raised letters where. After it got rubbed off it looked like crap. Are these the same, or is it a true black sidewall with the raised letters painted?

Just got my second set of Duratrac's, had over 58k on them 265/70/16. Great tires, still had at least another 5k worth of tread on them but they were cupping and had a piece of metal in them. Bought 235/85/16 last week, best tire I have ever bought.

265/75/16? I cant find 265/70/16 Duratracs on either Canadian or US site. Would be interested, but thought they don't exist.
