My duratracs (265/75/16) on pro comp 7089 wheels are apparently a wheel balancers worst nightmare... Talk about being treated like an asshole for having " these crazy hard to balance wheels and knobby tires" ...

On the other hand, I found a shop on a recommendation that spun the tires on the wheels and spent a little extra time and care balancing... I watched him the whole time. Was kinda fun really.

Got em down to 2oz a wheel and smooth as butter. But I offered $80 cash and was upfront with how hard they could be to balance.

    So it all depends really.

Gotta make sure they line up the dots on the tires with the valve stem too.

Mine have been great. A lot of weights to balance, but nothing like the one pictured.
Still get 18-20mpg on my 265/75/16 wheels at 42psi front 40 rear. But the superlight Konigs probably have something to do with that ;)

I'm going to bring mine in to get balanced again. Its never been right since I bought them 7 months ago. Sometimes they get it a little better but they don't want to road force balance them (America's Tire) because it takes too long.

Had to drive for a distance on the highway today at higher speeds and my vibrations are still bad. Almost feels like the truck is vibrating up and down. Wouldn't surprise me with that ridiculous weight the last shop put on. It's uncomfortable and doesn't feel safe. Not as bad as before, but still bad.

Now I'm sitting at Merrick & Fair Performance. They deal with more modded cars and trucks, so no attitude about my wheels and tires. He said they would try switching the tires and wheels and play around with it. I'm hopeful.

Have you chalk tested them at those pressures? My MPGs have sucked since the first day I put my Duratracs on.

Haven't had the balancing issues you guys have had though. Just a lot of bitching about putting weights on the wheels with how far up the bead sits. I did have a sidewall blow out about 7 months ago and that was all street driving with probably 40-50K on them after 3 years. Even aired down I haven't been impressed with them off road though and I'll definitely be going with something different when it's time for new rubber this year.

Looking to hear from some of you who use these tires more off road than on the pavement!!! These tires are the front runner in my tire debate!! My truck spends more time off road than it does on pavement infact I plan on breaking them in on a 10 day off roading trip in August!!! I'm looking at 265/75R16's in load range c I've got a 4cyl 5spd I've heard some scattered reports of shitty sidewalls with the duratracs but most of the reviews I read are from mall crawlers I've read through a couple dozen pages here but most of its about tread life whereas I'm more concerned with off road performance and will I slice up these things I got a buddy locally that has two that are 50-60% that I'm gonna grab as spares just in case, basically do I even need to be worried?

Well, I had these tires rebalnaced. Better, but still a lot of vibration above 60mph. The tech at least put the weights on correctly and not half way around the tire like the past shop. The bad vibration seemed to start in between 20-25k miles.

Really not enjoying these tires anymore. Now I'm just gonna try and rotate the fronts to the rear and hope I at least get rid of the steering wheel vibration. I'm at the point that I hope they don't last too much longer so I can justify buying different tires.

They look really good, but my overall experience with then hasn't been amazing, or even satisfactory. I certainly will be going with a different brand tire on my next buy.

I just had to get one replaced because the steering wheel started to shake after rotating the tires. It had like 30lbs of road force. The replacement one was also bad because it had even more road force, 35lbs. Finally they found one that had 10lbs of road force which cured the shake.

My installer really hates balancing these tires. If you have vibration problems you should ask your installer to give you the road force numbers. The road force limit on LT tires are 39lbs per Hunter Engineering so the installer might think the tire is still good. But our trucks are really sensitive and 39lbs will cause the shakes. It's best to try to keep it under 20lbs.

I'm running the265/75/16 load E and haven't had any problems. I don't spend a ton of time off road, but certainly go in that direction. No sidewall issues as of yet. It's been almost two years. Wear has been pretty good as well with a little over 30k miles.

Getting 30 mpg on the highway

I am having the same issue. I got my duratracs in November. Had bad vibrations, got them rebalanced, still bad vibrations.

About 11 re-balancings at 4 different shops, one of which was road forced, I have had three tires replaced under the manufacture warranty. The road force balance said I still somehow have two tires out of round. My damn truck still shakes like crazy. And at this point goodyear seems to think that is it my truck and not the tires.... Even though the truck was fine before I got the tires and every time I get them balanced they can't get the tires to zero out....

I love driving. And I love my truck. At this point I hate driving and my truck because the ride is so shitty. 7 months and about 8,000 miles later, my tires are probably starting to fuck with my (not so cheap) suspension too. I am currently waiting on new tires to be in stock to get them replaced. Again.

I am not the kind of person to bash a company or refuse to buy a product because of one bad experience. However, this is getting completely ridiculous. I just want to be able to drive my truck in peace. As much as I want my duratracs to be as great as most people say, I will not be buying from goodyear again and honestly just want my money back so I can go buy some tires that can actually be balanced.
