Got bored at work and made a bed rack.

I know it's a little crude but I'm only going to use it when camping with the rooftop tent. I get paid on commission and as you can see my stalls where empty today so I broke out the steel I had bought a while back . I started with some flat bar from Home Depot and some 5/16" hardware to figure out a nut plate that worked with the brackets I made for mounting.

 

Then on to making the "pedestals"

 

Here are the nut plates that slide in the bed cleat tracks

 

Get bored tomorrow and make me one

 

Ok it's coming together a bit

 

A little spark arrest paper and welding blankets so I don't burn the paint with slag

 

Then a little black PPG epoxy primer followed up by some black SEM e-coat .. I'll post up some pics Monday . I grabbed it from underneath the bases because that was sprayed first and got it out of the paint booth but still to wet to mount.

 

I have the weekends off and I never get time to sit. It won't happen again anytime soon .Last time was January I think and I made a flatbed for my 81 hilux . They keep me very busy. That's why I stay(commission).
