Now you got an accident on your record 'cause you reported it... your insurance will take a hit for it. Maybe not this time but accident forgiveness only goes so long.

You don't wanna hear this but you should'a just let 'em run and not called it in since all you had was a scratch on your bumper. Even if CHP find's 'em (most states won't bother unless there's bodily injury) there's very little if anything you can get from it.

That's the kind of mentality that lets these jerk offs think they can do that stuff. It does suck but I won't let anyone get away with this crap.

Your insurance will take a hit only if you make a claim that they do not get reimbursed for or that is proven to be your fault. He is not at fault here. When/if those guys get pressed for charges, they will be liable for restitution to the insurance company.

That hook looks like the ultimate way to stop a hit and run a-hole from running!

Also, it is a shame that the cops are too concerned with catching speeders to go after real criminals.

That's not true... even when not at fault the insurance company considers the driver a higher risk because they are 'accident prone'; remember all the 'defensive driving' stuff? A hit may not be the same as when you have an actual accident but they do consider it. When you think about it from a risk perspective it makes sense and is no different than how they treat tickets on your record.

I found this out when I tried to change policies and the new company wouldn't give me their 'good driver discount' because of hit-n-run I had reported three years back very similar to OP's.

Fed Taco: it may be unfair, but that's the way it is. Good guys only too frequently finish last. In my case, the cop traced the runner and found he didn't have a license, was on parole, and had no insurance. Nothing I could do but fix it and move on with my life.... and as a reward for tryin' to stick to an a-hat get screwed by not getting discounts I thought I'd earned.

Life sux... and then you die.

Your insurance will be fine and you absolutely did the right thing. People shouldn't get away with this shit and people have to stop living in fear of making an insurance claim because of someone else's different experience.

Glad you didn't try chasing them!

Why do we have to share the planet with so many a$$holes it's flippin tough yet we do our best. You know I've heard that fleeing the scene of an accident WITH INJURIES turns the misdemeanor into a felony. I think calling 911 and reporting that your may be hurt might change the urgency of the situation to law enforcement...just sayin ..... Hang in there, good luck and keep us updated

Newark, they got on 84 at newark blvd. I think they had something in there or it was stolen. I havent heard anything from the CHP but i don't think they are looking to hard for these guys. Which kinda sucks but what can you do.
