Love the white off roads. I'm usually not a fan of stickers but man they look good with the retro red, orange, yellow TRD striping. If the lady's car wasn't white I would have went that route too!

2008 Tacoma Quad cab 4x4 manual trans TRD w/cap Checks ALL boxes
I bought my first Toyota back in the late 90's, it was an '89 Toyota p/u SR5, regular cab, 4x4 manual trans at the strong recommendation of my ex-bf , he was a Toyota fan. I switched UP from a Ford pickup. Sadly poor Red Fred just was unlucky, I had three accidents in it and the last, strike 3, I had to take it off the road. I hated to but poor Fred had just had enough. The last was surreal and should have killed me but Fred took care of me, giving up his "life" for me. From that point I had two SUVs, an Isuzu Rodeo that an autistic individual that I worked with would always say "Rodeo Isuzu will be broke one day." and a Kia Sorento that caused us so much grief I almost took it out myself with my 20guage . A friend I had cares for through breast cancer and ALS had gifted me some money so I went on a search for my dream truck, Toyota Tacoma (or Tundra if I could find one) that must check off all the boxes: Quad cab/4 door? ✔. V6 (or better)✔. 4x4 ✔. Manual transmission ✔✔ RED. ✔✔✔. Clutch release starting. ✔✔✔✔. Locking differential. ✔✔✔✔✔. It took me months but I found it! A 2008 Toyota Tacoma Quad cab v6 4x4 with a cap and RED. It had 181k and I was the 2nd owner! Original owner bought it off the showroom floor, upgraded everything. Had the frame coated (which now I'm having it replaced as a recall because nows there's a small hole, 10 yrs later), he covered all the rust hotspots; fenders, hood, wheel wells, etc. The only thing I have to fix is the LCD display for outside temperature, since I've never had a vehicle that had that I don't miss it so when I get around to it I'll pull our my soldering gun and fix it, or not.. The price? $10,500! My current boyfriend was in the market for a new car (he blew up his engine in his rav4 literally while we were driving to pick up my Tacoma) so I pulled into the local Toyota dealer and the salesman flipped when he saw Ruby Red and how much I paid for her. Once you've driven a Toyota Tacoma, or any pickup, you're stuck! That's the one thing I'm grateful for from my ex, he was right! I learned my lesson, now I'm just hoping Ruby isn't as unlucky as Fred was.

Haha i feel you. I had a Passat wagon and an FRS before my 2005 Tacoma PR OR. It was basically a lifted FRS since it was 2WD and had a locking diff... I used to send that thing so hard lol. Still miss drifting that truck.

Sold that taco, got another taco (black 2012 4x4 OR) and then sold that taco and bought a supercharged FRS. Then I went the other direction and bought a 6MT Cummins 2500 haha... now I’m back to the tacos. I come from an autocross/drifting/rallycross background so I understand!
I wish I could have 2 vehicles, but dailying a “race car” is annoying and inconvenient. I love having a truck, and I love being able to go almost anywhere I want to. One day I will be able to afford to have both at the same time :)

Here’s the progression of my shennanigans...

Needless to say, I’m tired of going through vehicles. The last 6 years have been fun and I don’t regret anything... But this taco is here to stay for at least 7-8 years lol.

How did you like that aftermarket grill on your old Taco? I was checking it out. The guy who makes them is somewhat close to me. Different than all the pro grills everywhere.

I liked it a lot, unfortunately couldn’t keep it because I sold my stock grille lol. I’ll get another one eventually after wheels/lift. You should get one if you’re on the fence! I don’t like how the pro grilles protrude, so i went with xtrek. Great guy, great product. @watkins303

Trade in while you can! The autos are worth more so you probably wouldn’t lose much money

Ha, I wish. I’ve barely had it a week. Couldn’t wait to order a MT and got a good deal on this one. In 30+ years of driving I’ve never owned an AT and never wanted one. We’ll see how it goes!

Another minor mod for the taco- installed kicker tweeters that I originally bought for the sr5

    I also finally flashed OVTune 1.05 :D
The difference in drivability is night and day, I can’t believe how much the stock tune neuters these engines down low. Feels like a new truck and I’m thrilled with it now.

For those curious about the tweeter upgrade, here’s all the info you’ll need https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-subaru-toyota-3rd-gen-tweeter-upgrade-holy-s.540548/
