Some of those options might work. There are bolt locations on the A-pillar in order to mount a grab handle.

Here is a photo of the exposed a-pillar.

there is a bracket about where the bottom of a handle would mount to but it is not threaded or have a nut tacked in like the upper/passenger side. If you could find a way to secure a nut on the backside of the lower bracket you'd be halfway to having your handle.

I would love to have an A-Pillar bar on my truck. I used it all the time on my old truck, both before and after I had the lift. My main use for it was to clear the side bolster on the seat so that I wasn't always moving across it and wearing it out rapidly.

So question - is the Tacoma sold in Ireland or UK or any country that has the drivers seat on the right side of the car? If so, couldn't we just buy the parts for replacement grab handles for their passenger side? It's gotta be the same pillar being used universally...

don't know if i would want drivers letting go of the steering wheel to grab a handle during an instance of panic.

    - my son has aftermarket grab bar in his Jeep Rubicon and it feels heavy duty.
I would like something like that in my truck. Stock wheels now but going bigger later and the grab bar would sure help getting in and out.

On the tundra forums this is a big complaint as well. They are able to just buy the assist grip and new a pillar the holes are already there.

You can get a 2nd gen pillar and handle - swap it in without any issues.

Someone did a writeup on this on Facebook just a few days ago.

Getting into the vehicle easier without ruining the seat bolster or yanking on the steering wheel.

All this? Couple of guys brainstorming on how to add something we personally see of value to the truck? This is a forum you know, where people do that sort of thing.

You clearly don't see it of any value, but we clearly do, so why do you feel the need to comment on it?

Are there any right-hand drive Tacoma's? Possibly in Africa or New Zealand? Japan maybe? If there is, I am sure there is a part number we can order from.

Are we sure the second gen pillars aren't identical and able to be swappped?
