Any examples of one that will work? A Google search for "slide on coupler grease" brings up a lot of options.
    Thanks

Turn the shaft until the zerk is pointed to the passenger side of the vehicle. A flexible rubber line on your grease gun will then allow you to grease it without removing anything.

    heres one example http://www.drillspot.com/products/91719/Lincoln_Industrial_5883_Grease_Coupler

you can also get them with a zerk fitting on em so you just push your grease guns end on and pump away. or you can get a threaded male or female one and screw it on your tube or flex hose. i like the swivel coupler myself itll fit almost any angle

^X2 I've never had an issue getting to that front fitting...it's tight but can be done. One thing I've found to be helpful...adjust the grease fitting on the end of the flex hose loose and snug it up once your on the zerk, then after pumping loosen the fiitting before attempting to remove off the zerk. Always pull straight off...never at and angle (to avoid breaking the zerk fitting.) I read here once that at least one of the zerk fittings is non replaceable (permanently installed)...does anyone know which one that is?

I broke the front-most zerk on my front driveshaft when I was pulling off the grease gun coupler. Dealer replaced entire driveshaft under warranty. The zerk was not removable (pressed in). Since then, I loosen the coupler by unscrewing it slightly.

So...that's the zerk that you need to remove the small plate for access and the hardest one to get the coupler on correct?

I broke the zerk ahead of the one with the heat shield.

I have a humming noise and it goes away when turning steering abruptly. Would this be a wheel bearing on a 2 wheel drive 09 Tacoma?

No. I have a 14 AC 4x4 and the drive shaft to the front diff is sealed with no grease fittings. The main drive shaft to the rear diff has three

Not doubting that Toyota could have starting using sealed u-joints, but the grease fitting May not be on the outside of the cap like the ones on the rear driveshaft. On my '09, those on the front driveshaft are "hidden" between the joint and the driveshaft.

Just a heads up when you are greasing them up. You want to push a good amount of new grease thru the joint. This will push the dirt, grime and moisture out of the needle bearings.

The Spicer manual for driveshafts/u-joints specifically says to push grease into the u-joint until all the old grease is purged and clean grease comes out all four trunnion seals. This takes about 5 pumps on a large sized grease gun. If grease can't be coaxed out of all four bearings, Spicer says the u-joint should be replaced.

The front driveshaft u-joints should have angled zerks at the center of each u-joint cross. Some grease gun tips are too big to fit in there
