Replacement drive shaft has NO ZERKS. Anyone come across this?

Let me start by saying, I know what a Zerk is. I found the ones on the front drive shaft. I have turned the rear (replaced by warranty) drive shaft to search. But no ZERKS. WTF..

I have searched. It seeemed a guy with a 2017 Tundra had no ZERKS from new.. Seems weird.

How am I meant to lube her up?

Attached is a pic of the replaced drive shaft sticker..

Any advice is welcome, Do I just go back to the dealer and say “WTF” ? Politely of course

EDIT. Found a thread in 3G

I know this is a really old tread and my question is probably answered somewhere lost in this tread. So my question is, i pumped like 20 times already on the zerk by the shaft that’s near the rear differential, that slides back and forth. (See picture) Somehow i still don’t see or hear that it’s getting full. For the other zerks, like the front, middle,i pump 3-5 times and i start hearing a tiny air pop and i see leaks of grease indicating it’s full. However on this one, ive pump 20+ times and it’s still not full ‍♂️? Is there an exit for the grease to come out somewhere? I mean, is that normal? Where does all those grease even went? Someone please clarify this to me. Thanks in advance.

If that's the zerk I'm thinking of, for that zerk, the thread earlier mentioned that you pump until you see the shaft start to move (I believe it was called a yoke if you want a search term). I think if you're overpumping, it'll probably just squeeze out while you drive as the shaft goes in and out. Sorry I can't be more specific with terms and stuff, last looked at this a while ago and don't recall the specifics.

Of all the things I do to my Tacoma, I bought it used with 96,000 miles, two things have stood out as noticeable improvements. First was greasing the drive shaft. The first time I did it, there was cracking, creaking and took a lot of grease. I did it again in two weeks. I wanted let the new grease get shoved around a little and this time not as much cracking before the black grease came out. I did it one more time when I changed the oil, This time I saw red grease come out rather quickly and very little cracking. Each time I did this, the shifting smoothed out and less "clunking". I will be greasing it every oil change from now on. I think the previous owner omitted that maintenance step. This thread is very worthwhile.

The other noticeable change came after a power steering fluid change, there was a rather large difference in turning effort and noise at the sharpest turning radius.

If there was clunking it sounds like the joints may be worn out and need replaced.

What I had was less sound than feel. Some times when up shifting to pass or after hitting a steep hill and leveling out, I could feel the shift more than I can now. I hope you are wrong [no insult intended] my fingers have been crossed.

So where will this grease come out as I add it... Or will it make sense as it happens?

If it has been a while since it was greased, you will hear some "cracking" and eventually you will see black grease come out. Pump the gun until it comes clean. Again, if it has been awhile, if you do it again in a few days, you will again see black grease come out. I do mine every oil change now.

Yeah dude.. the crackling sound was oddly satisfying.

Just did this on a 2002 and my own 2011.

The 2002 stepside had 6 Zerks. It had NOO lube at all. Nothing but crackling and clean grease came oozing out. Crazy it was so dry.. it is a 2002, tho.

My 2011 had some very fine, stringy black grease come out. It was certainly time for fresh lube. I plan on doing this job often, it's so easy

If it has been a while since your shaft was greased, your need will be fulfilled.

If u wanna get lucky have ur wife or a chick help with this job.

Talking about lube and shafts and nipples (Zerks) will get her going... Worked for us. Lol.

"Once you finish cleaning that nipple I'll lube the rest of the driveshaft and we'll be done".

Does anybody have the flush grease fittings on their Tacoma? I have a 2010 AC 4x4 TRD and there were regular zerks for the first 2 parts of the drive shaft up front, but for the center shaft I only found 2 grease fittings that looked like the picture attachedScreenshot_20190725-122501_Chrome.jpg

This is what one of my u joints looks like. Second picture is a u joint with no zerks/fittings. Does this mean it was replaced at sole point? 20190727_205511.jpg 20190727_205700.jpg
