The grey MOD is stupid simple & it'll take longer to round up the tools to do it than doing the MOD itself !! ;)

I agree with that. New tacomas are just too damn big.

That's just when they stopped making the mini-trucks... the new Tacomas are closer to 1/2 ton trucks in size and capability.. I wouldn't mind having that new 4.0L... damn things have got power to 'em. But I like my 3.4... it does the job and does it well.

Did you get the switch fixed?? I've always wondered about all this push button 4wd and locker stuff our trucks have and how long the switches will last.

Not yet. Actually it doesn't bother me at the moment thanks to all the snow.. :D Locker is nice to have at the moment. I think that's about the only thing that really breaks on the 4x4s in terms of the drive train "computer" parts.. haven't seen anyone complain about the 4WD not working. Probably has happened, but not a lot.

No, this is for the up to 2004 Tacoma's. I believe there is a mod for the 2005+ Tacoma's. I dig around for it.

Yup, the second gen Tacos need a relay and more work than just cutting a wire. Seriously, with AUTO LSD in 2WD and TRAC in H4 you shouldn't need to make the locker work for traction. If you just gotta do it, the mod by ComAttack (Kevin Knight) is well written and illustrated.

Yep. The grey wire probably goes to a switch that grounds the wire when the truck is in 4 low and by cutting and grounding it, it makes the truck think it is in 4 low all the time.

There are two screws but their pretty much inaccessible. There is one threaded hole without a screw that is in the perfect spot for me except that the screw itself is missing.

Yeah I'll figure it out thanks Doug. For now the grey wire is crimped and I'll be looking for another ground or that screw
