What would happen if a switch was fitted? maybe the lock could be on demand? I wouldn't recommend engaging it while the vehicles in motion.

I would go with aussie;) The guy who designed it designed the loc-rite and the story goes that when he came up with a new better design the corporation shot it down because they didnt want to change the manufacturing process. Although thats what i read on a jeep forum guess who knows how accurate that info is.

i have been thru 3 lockrights in my crawler, they only last about a year... i know you dont have a crawler but that still isnt very good in my opinion. after being let down so many times i put a detriot in and have not had a problem in 2 years and it works smoother from the very start.

Just did the mod today. Seems to work just fine in the yard. The RR light was blinking initially, but when I pulled out, the light stay on. Woohoo in the loose gravel!

Has anyone ever had trouble getting the locker to dis-engage. My light is off, but locker is engaged in 2WD. I can hear my tires skidding in corners. I have not done the gray wire mod. Thanks.

For some, they dont have 4wd, white others want full control of theyre machine. I enjoy being able to be locked in 2hi white on trails, and only engaging 4wd when absolutely nessicary. locked will get you so much further then unlocked 2wd.

see this video from 4.45 on. This member had some pretty good offroad tires, but is only 2wd, and unlocked. look at how much trouble he had. I went up in 2hi, but locked. never slipped once.

Sounds like the right lights are coming on/& going off but I'm thinking the solenoid isnt enrgizing, moving acuator but don't know if anything like that would throw a code seeing how the system is being "tricked" already from the MOD....maybe check for voltage & listen for "clicks" for engagement, not a great answer but maybe something to check if you haven't already....good luck;)

I did this to my truck last night. I can't believe something so easy and cheap could make such a difference. I literally took me longer to get the panel off and my tools out than it did to ground the wire!

So now that you guys have done the grey wire mod, like myself, when do you ever find yourself using Low gear? I haven't felt like i've had to use it once since doing the GW mod.
