I think it's totally cool, I wasn't trying to undermine your mod, I think Toyota should have made it that way from the beginning, almost like it's a no-brainer ? :typing:

Greenbean, I can't help but notice that your ABS light is on, as is mine. Is that a common problem? I am assuming it is a wheel sensor.

Thanks for the post, I am going to do this tomorrow. And Concrete Jedi I think that the reason that the locker will only engage in 4L with the 4x4 is mainly a safety issue. The prerunners don't have 4L capability so then they need to be able to engage in 1st or what ever gear. That is my guess, they just don't want the liability of some fool driving down the highway with his rear end locked.

hey guys, I went out and did this mod today, and it works great, But I was wondering why my ABS light isnt on when I turn the rrdiff on? I asoom it could be the light itself. Any ideas?
And Is it ok to ground it to an existing ground with other wires?

Maybe the ABS doesnt work with the Locker engaged ? And about the comment about smelling smoke was just because I cringe at the thought of "molesting" the factory wiring. I have owned a vehicle with electrical Gremlins and it sucks...the wiring had been, "tampered with".Thats just me though,to each is own.

Yeah, I thought about that too. Wasnt sure if I should do it. But alot of people have done it on TW and have had no problems or issues. So I took a chance, because i hated not being to use my diff lock in 2wd or 4hi. It sucks. But yeah, I see you have the Gibson cat-back exhaust. how do you like it? and was your HP gain? Im thinking about getting the same exhaust.

Nothing noticable as far as a performance or mpg gain, it just sounds a little better. As far as the locker in 4 hi, it would have been nice to have that option this past week-end, I got stuck. Decided to try 4 lo with the locker but 20/20 hindsight I would have been better off in 4hi with a run at it.

lol.. yeah Its stupid that toyota didnt have it stock to were you could use the locker in both 4hi and 4lo. Did you install your exhaust? if so, was it fairly easy?

It was a pretty easy install. I did it I think in about 5 hours, but the only reason it took that long is I had to use a right angle die-grinder and slitter wheel to remove the rusted studs holding the rear O2 sensor.

When removing the old exhaust at the rubber hangers, use a spray lube ( I used silicone spray)and a small straight screwdriver to pry the rubber over the ends.

Ok, thanks for the advise. Did you still use the factory hanger locations?

Yes. You`ll see it will be a piece of cake. I forgot to mention a trip to the auto parts store for hi-temp O2 safe silicone, and the hardware store for two bolts, nuts, washers to replace the rusted ones at the flange.
