The '98 TRD package came with a push button locker

You should google your VIN to make sure it's a TRD

Turns out i still have the window sticker from when the truck sat brand new, it has everything on that paper that is on my truck, all i can find is "on demand 4wd" does not say anything about trd package. i guess they just threw the trd sticker on for fun?

it's still a Toyota bro. The locker is really not that important. If you have had it this long without a locker you don't need it. I really have only used mine once and thats when it snowed 28'' and I could not get out of a friends driveway.

I've only used it once and it was when I was crawling up Elephant Hill in Canyonlands. Other than that, I've never used it.

I use the locker in the sand all the time! and if i ever try going through any water/mud. gives you that little bit more positive wheel-spin in the loose stuff.

Not that I'm aware of. Except maybe (not really a problem) the urge to use the diff-lock a hell of a lot more than you'd really need too. I.E. Launching the Taco against that annoying Honda Civic driven by the 16 year old who thinks he's got a GTR :D
