Those are two good examples. I did really like the front runner (and cheaper) but I think the Rhino will work well too. I will post up when I’m done but with the amount I have to get done between installs on my truck and work it may be a while.

Didnt use the spring because the bevels on the washers were too thick to grab onto the mount..and the setup was loose.

Im using the front runner mount.

I had the same issue looked for a few months. I even put in an order a few times (at a few different sites) only to be refunded and told they were out of stock. In late December Front Runner told me they did not know when they would be back in stock.

Where did everyone mount the interior antenna?

I was thinking about putting it between the arm rest and the cup holders. I could potentially drill a hole so I can fish the wire through or just have it snake over. That way people in the rear seats have at least a shot at getting some benefit of the weboost as well

I'll try to take some pictures of mine. I have everything completely hidden. The WeBoost itself is under the passenger seat and the internal antenna is snaked up under the center console and attached right by the cupholder (but inside the center console).

Would that location be good enough for a phone on top of the head unit? Do you think that would be good enough for the rear passengers too?

IIRC the manual says that best reception is had 18-36" away from the internal antenna. I found that best reception is about 2" from the internal antenna.

When I'm in the truck, I use the headunit via Bluetooth for streaming music and making phone calls. Outside of those two things, I try not to use my phone in the truck. Since I'm not holding it, I usually have it in the front cup holders or in that cubby right behind them, so my phone is within a few inches. I kind of doubt it would do much good with the phone up there. Of course, I'm willing to test, but I haven't wired power back up to my WeBoost since I relocated everything when I did my amp and speakers install. I'm also still (passively) looking for a good folding mount to permanently mount the WeBoost antenna.

Yeah, if you could test that would be awesome. Something I'd definitely want to know since my phone sits up there (essentially like if you had a 2TPAM mount).

Where do you plan on mounting it, and do you have a roof rack? If you have a roof rack with the 80/20 extruded aluminum, I'm sure the rhino-rack one can be bolted up somehow.

I'm using a CB antenna mount attached to the bedrails. No roof rack....yet.

I've been eyeing the Martin OR Rack...seems a good product at a good price. Just haven't been able to pull the trigger. I'm trying to figure out why my gas mileage has gotten so bad and adding stuff that adds wind resistance is opposite the goal. I know, I know....it's a truck, but it should be better than what it is. So back on track after that little tangent, the Rhino mount...which is stupid expensive IMO...isn't really an option.

I'll try to spend some time this weekend getting power hooked back up so that I can test that for you. I want to put it on a switch so that it isn't on 100% of the time too.

Also, side note: When I first hooked it up, I "stole" power from a direct to the battery USB charger that I installed (so I could charge my phone even when the truck is off). I say "stole" because the booster used enough of the juice coming through the wire (not sure what gauge it is) that the USB charger was extremely slow. FWTW.

Fair enough. I feel the same way. With all the stuff I have going on, I run about 14.7 MPG with my current setup. If I swap my winter tires (Cooper STT PRO) to summers (OEM tires) I go up to about 17.4 MPG.

The Rhino mount is excessively expensive, I agree, but all the other mounts I've seen on Amazon have had some breaks around the base of the antenna. I might end up fabricating up a mount from angle iron or something, with something that will allow me to fold it, I don't know yet.

Exactly this, I planned on putting that, and my CB onto switches so it is not constantly on. I just need to figure out where I want to mount the switches. Since I have a 3rd gen, I was thinking right in front of the parking brake handle on the slanted part just before the cupholders. BTW this is some random stock photo.rocker-switch-potential-location.jpg
If anyone else has suggestions for spots, please let me know. Just as an FYI, the left side steering wheel spots are all taken, and so are the lower center console ones.

After being on the fence forever I ordered a 472154 because they don’t make the new antenna packaged as a fleet kit. I will find a way to hardwire it.
Anyway... this deal is hard to beat. I couldn’t find a better deal.

Option 1: Run a wire direct to the battery
There is a rubber boot that comes into the cab through the firewall right by the brake booster. If you don't know what/where that is, it's directly above and slightly offset (to the outside) of where your brake pedal is. Push a coat hanger through and tape your wire to the coat hanger. Install a switch just in case. (it comes with an inline fuse that you can use)

Option 2: Add a fuse tap.
I've never used one of these, but you can add one to the fuse block inside the cab so that it is only on when the truck is on. I'm of no use when telling you what size fuse to use, or which fuse to tap into.

Also, I have no idea how much "juice" these things require. I don't think it is power hungry like an amp would be, but I feel like I need to run a thicker wire than what I have currently. I'm thinking of running a 12ga wire. I think the one it is on now is either 16 or 18, but I really don't know.
