To keep the OP simple, ICECO is already running a Group Buy over on IH8Mud.com. I received permission from the OP over there (SharpeCat) to post a thread about it over here. The discount is in the neighborhood of 25-30% depending on the model you select. Not all models will quailify.

To purchase, go to www.icecofreezer.com and select a unit. The promo code is "MUDFORUMBUY"

Here's a price list created by SharpeCat.

    august-group-buy-september-update-png_432e2cda9b33fee09159835c61e8edd59fcb5373.jpg

Currently, the code is set to expire on Labor Day (Sept. 7, 2020) but will be extended for out of stock and newly released products. I will update as I find out more information.

This is the second group buy between ICECO and IH8Mud that I'm aware of in the last few months. From what I understand, the ICECO rep (who also handles orders and shipping) has been quite busy with the success of the group buy, so please ask any questions here (or on IH8Mud) first. If I (or SharpeCat) don't know the answer, we will do our best to get it for you.

I know I’m not the only one looking forward to cooler weather so that we can get out and start camping again! If you haven’t yet purchased a fridge and are on the fence because of the high price tag, ICECO is currently offering 25-30% off select fridge/freezer models.

Why should you consider ICECO as your fridge/freezer of choice? For me, that was a combination of features and cost. I decided that I wanted to pick up another fridge a few months back and started looking into the options available. Of course, everyone wants you to see how awesome their Dometic or ARB fridge is, and rightly so. They spent good money on those and have faith that they are going to last. I personally know at least 2 people who have an ARB that is 10 years old and one of them just replaced theirs. ---Stay on topic, Cowboy--- I started noticing other brands like Ironman and Dobinsons offering a fridge/freezer for much more reasonable prices than the ARB or Dometic. Seems like everyone on Instagram wants you to see their Snomaster (also pricey) and all the #vanlife people on YouTube rave about their Alpicool (not pricey). I started to realize that most of the fridge/freezers on the market are one of about a half dozen designs.

    Compressor:

Sure, Engel uses a Sawafuji swing compressor that is unique to their brand and considered to be ultra-reliable. However, the majority of the legitimate fridge/freezers out there are going to use either the SECOP (previously called the Danfoss BD-35F) or a Chinese knockoff compressor. By the way, the ARB fridge/freezers – at least all the ones that I looked at – utilize the Danfoss/SECOP compressor. So does ICECO.

Just to confirm that it was in fact the compressor stated, someone took the cover off of their VL45 and took a picture:
    upload_2020-9-3_13-49-36.jpg

    Warranty:

All fridge/freezer models sold by ICECO that have the SECOP compressor are going to carry a 5 year warranty on the compressor and 1 year warranty on all other components. I’m not aware of any company that offers a similar warranty, except for Ironman. I believe the ARB fridge warranty is 2 years, but someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

    Price:

I would personally put ICECO in the off-brand/knockoff/rebranded category when it comes to price. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it just means that I don’t have super high expectations for it. However, given the warranty and use of the SECOP compressor, I actually do have somewhat high expectations. For the price, I don’t think it can be beat.

So why wouldn’t you buy an ICECO?

First, they don’t have the insta-fabulous following. If that’s important to you, then you should keep looking. But on a serious note, some of the models with metal bodies have been damaged in shipping. The metal body dents and for whatever reason, the carrier seems to bang up the box on the metal body fridge/freezers. They are knocked for it on Amazon quite a bit. You should really read some of the reviews on Amazon. The plastic body fridge/freezers, on the other hand, do not have that problem. In each of the cases where the body was damaged, I believe ICECO has worked with the buyer to make things acceptable. I don’t know of anyone who got a new fridge shipped to them, but they either got some additional accessories or some money refunded. That’s it, the possibility of damage during shipping is all that would stop me.

Some members on IH8Mud also reported that their shipment went to the UPS store and sat there for a week before being shipped out. The longest wait that I’m aware of from time the order was placed until the time the fridge was received is 2 weeks. Most members, myself included, got their fridge/freezer in about 1 week. I ordered on a Friday and it arrived via UPS the following Friday.

I am in no way affiliated with ICECO. I just got permission from an IH8Mud member (SharpeCat) to share their already active group buy over here.

I did my research and landed on ICECO for me personally. Then, I was pointed to the IH8Mud site where a group buy was already in progress and that made the deal that much sweeter. When I do the research and find what I believe to be the best deal, I like to share it. So there you go, this is me sharing what I think is the best deal. (Bonus: the JP series comes with the insulated bag)

How long is the group buy valid?

The current active group buy code is set to expire on Labor Day (September 7, 2020). However, there are several models that are currently out of stock and the code (or another) will be extended to include many of those that are out of stock.

Want to find out if a certain fridge is available for the discount? Head over to https://icecofreezer.com/ and look at their various models. Select one and enter the code to see if the discount can be applied.

In case you missed it in the title, the code is “MUDFORUMBUY”

ICECO has already agreed to do future group buys, so don’t worry if you aren’t ready to purchase. I’ve been following the thread over on IH8Mud for a while now and can probably address any questions that you might have. If not, I’ll get with the OP over there (SharpeCat) and see if we can’t get you an answer. If he doesn’t know, he has been in contact with ICECO.

As an added bonus, they have a new model that is about to come to market that isn’t listed on their website. The TR series looks to be a replacement for the JP series and has a lid that opens to the side.

I remember they did a kickstarter a few months ago that did really well. It's a great design and price point.

@CowboyTaco any word on the tr line?
I’d like to jump on the tr60 but don’t see it on the cite or how to order it.
Also wound like to see dimensions so I can check to make sure it’ll fit in the spot I want it

It's a new release. I know they have it in stock, but haven't provided much information. Let me ask SharpeCate and Lu (The ICECO rep) if we can get that information on the TR series.

I'm going to ask 1.) What are the dimensions, 2.) When are they available to order, and 3.) How to order?

Let me know if I missed anything, or if you think of other questions.

So it sounds like others have been asking the same question. Response from SharpeCat: "I plan on checking in on the TRs on Monday. As of right now we only have prices and know that they are in stock."

I'll keep you posted as soon as I hear more. With Monday being a holiday, it might be Tuesday before he realistically gets to ask the questions.

@YamaDirtrider still no word on specs for the TR60. Though I do know that at least one has shipped.

I think you can place an order via phone and probably have the group buy discount (30% for TR models) applied. I copied the below image from the thread on IH8Mud.

As far as I know, the Group Buy officially ended on Labor Day (this past Monday), but will pick back up for round 3 sometime in the near future. For low or out of stock items (JP series and some VL models) and new items (TR series), the discounts are supposedly being extended beyond the official end of the GB.

Here are some pics of an expandable VL35 that someone recently received. Note: metal body, no damage.

Here's a JP40 (plastic body). Hole in the box, but no damage to the unit.

As I understand it, the Group Buy on the ICECO is ON HOLD until the new TR model is released.

I'll update as I find out more information.

@CowboyTaco Ha! I missed this too, and also just ordered an Iceco VL60 with bag. On Amazon it came out to $685 shipped. Dammit! I'm going to start messaging you before I buy anything else.

I think the Amazon Prime Days deal was like 30% off, so better than the group buy price (which was 25%).

As I understand it, group buy pricing is not currently live, but will have another wave soon (in the coming months). Of course, I'll update TW if/when that happens.

Wish I had seen this before I purchased my used Dometic CFX. I really like the ICECO VL60 and 30% prime day sale would have been amazing. Heck if the deal came up again, I may be willing to sell my Dometic CFX50 w/drawer slide mounts and insulated cover for 1K to pickup a ICECO VL65 Dual.

I have asked about a future GB date. The guy organizing it has said that he is working on a "permanent" discount for forum members. My assumption is that they will do a Black Friday sale and then another Group Buy after that.
