Johnson Controls -- out of the Vermont plant, I think.

    16 years -- but who's counting? ;)

My original battery in my lawn tractor lasted about 18 years.
I have replaced it two additional times in the last 5 years. :bananadead::bananadead:

I just swapped batteries. Old one was still going strong but figured it was gonna leave me sit any day now.

Vehicles sold as new are required to have "new" batteries, meaning the lead / electrolysis cannot be from recycled materials. Any new off the shelf battery will have recycled lead etc in them. More or less opposite of seasome street. Optima went to shit because they fucked off to cheap labor and quality control became much more loose.

I'm midwest, but if you have a fleet farm or farm and fleet (same thing but also not the same thing), whatever they put in their batteries just won't die. I'll freeze them on a flat charge, jump them back to life, and it's like nothing happened.

Edit: and for the brave and slightly stupids. after desulfating doesn't work, zap each post with a mig welder. + to - then - to +. And if that doesn't make her go, you can always drill holes in them, and add more chemicals. They do melt your skins a bit, so be careful.

I bought a compact diesel for small farm/yard in '99. I replaced the battery 3 years ago, so 19 years I got out of it. That has the Tacoma beat by 3 years, so far, but I've got a feeling it's gonna be close if this '05 battery keeps going.

Damn! The original is still going in my 13 w/ 99k but she’s getting weaker. Really doesn’t like it when it gets below freezing. It will get retired this summer.
