Tried searching but wasn’t unsuccessful. Just picked up a handgun, was looking to see if anybody has any compartments/space ideas that are secure for inside a double cab taco?

Thanks dudes! Any links or info is greatly appreciated.

If you're going to go gun-mods then just go all the way.

    Like, so many.
Used a universal holster and Velcro to mount it inside the center console. The adhesive wasn’t strong enough so I used loctite to secure it. It’s still an awkward draw, but it’s better than it rattling loose in there.

Thats an interesting carry method. I live in Connecticut and I think he weapon has to be on you for carry. But I may be wrong. The legislature here actually prefers your magazine be in another vehicle so everyone is safe.

Yes studies show when a weapon is reduced to components and spread across long distances the safest place is the center of said weapon components spread.

Lift up the carpetted cardboard on the bottom of your center console. Insert foam cut to size, and put the cardboard back on top. You access it by pushing down on the cardboard on the corners - this compressed the foam and lifts the opposite side that your pushing on for access.

FWIW, that picture is of a 2nd gen - I looked beneath the carpet on my 3rd gen and I don’t know if it will work as well due to depth of the console and the gaps in the cardboard along the sides.

Anyone with a 3rd gen done it yet?

The problem with it is the gaps along the sides. There was a member who cut beneath the hard plastic in the botttom of the console to reveal more space, which made the gaps non existent. But it makes it harder to secure the firearm and access it. Although it does hide the gaps better.

Actually I have a CT. NON-Resident CT. Pistol Permit and you cant have pistol in your car or on you without a permit unless it is unloaded out of your reach and locked up. But if permited loaded anywhere you want unless posted.
Correct me if I'm wrong someone.

Wouldn't carrying a pistol unloaded defeat the purpose of having it close at hand? I carry mine loaded, in my bag, which is normally in the back seat but sometimes in the back under a locked canopy. I guess every state law is different.

    Check build thread
Although I'm Canadian so don't carry or see/feel a need to.
But given its said to be carried for protection is that even going to protect anymore? By the time you open the console move anything out of the way lift that up and finally get the gun out. Wouldn't you already be dragged out of the truck, stabbed, or shot?

If it's for protection shouldn't it be on you? At least that's how I always looked at it. And if I had to carry would.

Even under the seat or something would be faster.
